AlES Women’s Energy: From Inspiration to Leadership

In early October, representatives of the AlES Women’s Club took part in the 7th KAZENERGY Women’s Energy Club Forum, which was held in Astana and became a significant event for women working in Kazakhstan’s energy sector.

The forum is traditionally a platform for discussing issues of professional development, strengthening the role of women in energy, expanding leadership competencies and exchanging successful practices.

AlES experience: a systematic approach and results

AlES JSC consistently implements the principles of equal opportunities and is one of the first companies within the Samruk-Energy JSC structure to introduce a systematic approach to developing gender balance and an inclusive corporate culture.

Since 2018, AlES has been cooperating with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as part of a program to promote equal opportunities, which has made it possible to implement a gender equality policy, train managers and specialists, and create conditions for increasing the involvement and professional development of women in production.

This work continued with the creation of the AlES Women’s Club in 2022, the first such initiative among the subsidiaries of the Samruk-Energy holding company. The main goal of the club is to develop leadership skills, improve qualifications, exchange experience, and foster a culture of mutual respect and partnership.

The forum as a platform for professional interaction

During the VII KAZENERGY Forum, modern approaches to human capital development, issues of professional growth for women, mentoring, career advancement and the implementation of inclusive practices in energy companies were discussed.

Participants noted the importance of such platforms for strengthening professional ties, exchanging experience and expanding opportunities for women’s leadership.

“Participation in the 7th KAZENERGY Women’s Energy Club Forum left a lasting impression. The event featured presentations by prominent women in the industry, who shared their experiences, achievements and views on professional development opportunities. The forum became a platform for sharing best practices and a source of motivation for further growth and strengthening of women’s leadership,” said Daria Shayzhanova, a member of the AlES Women’s Club.

AlES continues to develop internal initiatives aimed at supporting the professional and personal growth of its employees. The company’s Women’s Club organizes educational programs, seminars and training courses on personal effectiveness, communication and management skills. Such work contributes to strengthening corporate values, developing human potential and maintaining an inclusive environment.

AlES consistently strengthens a culture of equal opportunities, develops leadership and supports the participation of women in the development of Kazakhstan’s energy sector. The company’s participation in the 7th Forum of the KAZENERGY Women’s Energy Club confirmed AlES’s high level of involvement in implementing sustainable development principles and promoting best practices in corporate equality.
