AlES seeks talent: job fair at ALT University

Representatives came to the annual “Job Fair”, which was recently held by ALT University named after Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpayev “AlES” JSC to get acquainted with talented students and graduates of the university.

ALT UNIVERSITY occupies a leading position among higher technical educational institutions of Kazakhstan in training personnel for railway and road transport, construction of roads and railways, energy, telecommunications, automation and life safety. Many specialists with a diploma of this university (formerly AlIIT) came to work in Almaty energy.

The university believes that such meetings of potential employers and future specialists are very effective and useful for everyone: the university prepares personnel for the real economy, which are in demand and find work, enterprises receive specialists, and graduates receive a successful professional start, work and a guaranteed future.

During the “Job Fair” and individual interviews, you can pre-assess the level of knowledge, motivation and interests of students. And not only in terms of potential employment, but also for passing industrial practice in the near future.

In fact, this process of acquaintance of the parties has already become phased: first, students can come on an excursion, undergo an internship, an internship, and as the relationship develops, it becomes clear whether such work is within the reach of a future specialist and whether he is suitable for the enterprise.

“I am very glad that we took part in the “Job Fair” ALT University. We told the guys about our work in the heat and power industry, about boiler houses, turbines, networks and future projects, – shares the impression of Zarina Rombekova, chief specialist of the personnel sector of the ZTK of the AlES company.”

“There were many motivated students – it’s nice to see such an active interest in engineering professions! Thanks to the University for organizing the fair and invitation, since such events help to find talents and develop the industry.”

The university, for its part, has done a lot so that representatives of employer companies on the site provided can fully demonstrate information materials, clarify the goals and objectives of their production, and also talk about professional requirements for potential specialists. Power engineers took full advantage of this opportunity, showing layouts, distributing information materials and using modern multimedia equipment to demonstrate their production facilities.

“The fair has become an excellent platform for direct communication with talented and motivated students. We got the opportunity to tell them about our company, present open vacancies and prospects, as well as conduct preliminary interviews with potential candidates,” says Aigul Dosbolova, head of the personnel department of the oldest TETs-1 in the republic named after B.Orazbayev. “We are confident that such events contribute to the development of career opportunities for young people and strengthen ties between business and educational institutions.”

Power engineers also praised the organization of the fair, the created conditions for meetings and the active involvement of students. For the Almaty energy complex, the influx of young professional personnel is an objective necessity. At AlES JSC, large-scale modernization is underway at the main CHPPs, plans include updating the Kapshagai hydroelectric power station and the Almaty Cascade of hydroelectric power stations, so young specialists who are well trained and able to work on modern equipment will be in great demand.

In general, AlES JSC systematically solves the personnel issue: they solemnly accompany the specialists of the old school to retirement, many of whom have worked for many years in excess of their work experience, and gradually rejuvenate the workforce. Today in the company 14% of the staff are employees under 30 years old, and the backbone was formed by specialists 30-50 years old – their 1632 people out of 3087 employees.

AlEC uses different formats for attracting young specialists: from job fairs, memoranda and direct contracts with technical educational institutions to foreign internships, transparent career elevators and social support. For example, the company has a collective agreement, where, in addition to the formulated production obligations of the parties, there are mandatory social and household items, leisure programs – cultural, sports and even their own housing projects. So, this year alone, 38 AlES power engineers received keys to apartments.

All this together is a serious motivation to choose the profession of an energy engineer and become a high-class specialist. And here, the sooner you make the right choice, the better for both the specialist and the company. And the fair is a great occasion to get to know each other…
