When a profession becomes a destiny

December 29, 2025 in the assembly hall of the TETs-1 named after B.Orazbayev held a solemn event dedicated to the Day of the Power Engineer. On this day, employees of production departments, head office, industry veterans, managers and specialists gathered here – people for whom energy has become a profession, destiny and responsibility.

In the morning, guests gathered in the lobby. Classical music sounded, the photo zone worked, colleagues warmly greeted each other. In these meetings, handshakes and smiles, the main thing the community of people of the same business, united by respect for the profession and many years of joint work was felt at the meeting.

The key event of the celebration was the award ceremony, which was held by the Chairman of the Board of AlES JSC Yerik Mashirov. On this day, 171 employees of the company were noted. The names of workers awarded state, departmental and corporate awards sounded from the stage. In the hall were their colleagues, mentors, managers – those who know the value of these awards well, because they share the same shifts, repairs, calculations and responsibilities. Their work is well known in the teams, and the awards have become calm and well-deserved recognition of many years of work.

Among the awardees was Maksat Tusupov, deputy head of the Workshop for Adjustment and Environmental Protection, Production Department CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov. He has been in the energy sector since he was 28: he came as a mechanic and in 18 years he went up to the deputy head of the workshop. The Certificate of Honor received by Samruk-Energo JSC became unexpected and especially valuable for him – as Maksat Tusupov noted, it is perceived primarily as an assessment of the work of the whole team.

Nadezhda Mishchenko, a leading accountant of the WTC accounting department, with 21 years of experience, was also in the hall. For her, this day turned out to be really exciting: all the awarded workers go through her calculations, and she is sincerely convinced that every encouragement is deserved here. Nadezhda Nikolaevna proudly talks about her work and about the WTC team, of which she has been a part for more than two decades.

Restrained and businesslike accepted his award – the title “Veteran Power Engineer KEA” – Oleg Chesnokov, who worked at the Cascade of Hydroelectric Power Stations for 32 years. His professional life is inextricably linked with the station – he says more than once that he was “born on the Cascade”. On this day, he was, as always, in a cheerful, working mood, emphasizing by his example the reliability and continuity of the profession.

Among the awardees was Makhmujan Mansurov, a locksmith for the repair of equipment of boiler houses and dust preparation shops of the 6th category of PRP Energoremont – a representative of those whose work is rarely in sight, but is crucial. Repair of valves, valves, gate valves – it is this work that ensures the safety and stability of the entire system. He is sure that it is necessary to reward for real contribution, and this principle is especially appreciated in production teams.

Another example of a professional path is Nurbek Ilgishev, assistant driver of the FRUT diesel locomotive, who has been working at AlES JSC for 13 years. He came as a loader, and today he works as an assistant locomotive driver. His story is about gradual growth, respect for the profession and sincere pride in his work. He was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Kazakhstan Electric Power Association.

For Rauan Akhmetov, shift supervisor of the power plant of the Operation Group, Kapshagai HPP named after Sh.Chokin, received the title of “Kurmettі Energetik. Kazakhstan Electric Power Engineering has become a great honor and the result of the work done: “I want to express my sincere gratitude to those who created AlES and everyone who contributed to its development. Separately, I would like to note the director of the Kapshagai HPP Tastanbek Alibek Maratovich – with his arrival at the station there have been many positive changes. This is a leader who really keeps his finger on the pulse. I am sure that if there are more such people in the energy sector and in the country, a bright future awaits our country and Kazakhstan’s energy sector.”

A separate emphasis of the event was the mention of the television project “En myqty” on the Jibek Joly TV channel, dedicated to the Year of Working Professions. It was participeted by CHPP-1 employees – Aidos Masiraliev and Bekzat Kalelov, who adequately represented AlES JSC and the profession of power engineer. According to the results of the project, Aidos Masiraliev became the winner, taking 1st place, and Bekzat Kalelov became a bronze medalist.

On this day, dozens of the same specialists were in the hall – each with its own history, experience and contribution. Energy Day at AlES JSC became not so much a ceremony as a meeting of people who know the price of their work well and appreciate each other.

Without loud words, but with great inner meaning, this holiday once again reminded: energy rests on people – calm, reliable, professional. And while such people are around, the industry has a confident present and a solid future.
