Welcome Day at CHPP-2: a day when children learn about their parents’ jobs

A special event took place at CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov as part of Health and Safety awareness month: a Welcome Day for the children of the station’s employees.

It was not just a field trip. It was a day to get to know the real core of the power industry, their parents’ profession, and the place where light and heat are generated for thousands of Almaty residents. This event was all about showing kids how important their parents’ work is, teaching them to respect safety, and strengthening family values and corporate spirit.

The day was spent with the curious young guests, who range from 4 th to 10 th grade, as they explored the world of power engineering. They saw the heart of the station, the main control panel, looked into the turbine hall, marveled at the size of the cooling towers and got to know the new station that is currently under construction. For many, it was the first time they realized how important and responsible their mothers’ and fathers’ work represent.

Here are some of the children’s impressed comments:

Abil Aiyum, 9 th grade student, daughter of Senior Inspector for Safety, Health and Environmental Protection Nargiz Tavbayeva:

– “I saw a lot of interesting stuff. Now I want to work in the chemical workshop. My mum works in safety, my dad is an ecologist. Both professions are very important!”

Abil Daria, 5th grade student, daughter of Olzhas Abil, chief specialist at the Environmental Protection Department:

– “This is the first time I’ve been to my mum’s work! I want to be an energy engineer like my mum. She does a very interesting and responsible job!”

Katranova Amina, 8 th grade student:

– “The station is huge! I was especially impressed by the cooling towers. Now I know how they operate!”

Olzhabai Ogulan, 7 th grade student, son of the Chief of Staff of the Civil Defense and Emergency Situations Service, Sanjar Balgazin:

– “I have always wanted to be a translator. They need translators at the new station as well! I especially liked the main control panel”.

Aldashukurova Yasmina, 6 th grade student, daughter of Gulmira Kazez, head of the chemical workshop:

– “This is the first time I have seen where my mom works. I love her very much and am proud of her important job!”

Sman Nuradil, 10th grade student, son of turbine shop foreman Baurzhan Andasbayev:

– “My parents are doing difficult and important work. I want to work at the station too – the people here are very kind and highly professional!”

Asembekov Elnur, 9 th grade student, son of laboratory assistant TsNiPD Aigul Umiraliyeva:

– “Today I saw with my own eyes what kind of hard work my parents do. Their work is dangerous and responsible. I skipped school just to see this”.

Tursunmuhammed Mansur, 4 th grade student, son of Mukhit Bokbasarov, deputy head of the boiler repair shop:

– “I was amazed by the turbine hall! Now I understand that my dad works to keep our homes lit, warm and with hot water. We also dream of going to the Sahara with him!”

The tour ended with a short survey: each child shared their impressions and knowledge about their parents’ professions and safety rules. Everyone said they wanted to come back to the station to experience the amazing world of power engineering again.

Each child received a commemorative gift – a small symbol of great respect for the families of the employees of CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov.

The Welcome Day was not just a tour – it became a real bridge between generations, where pride in parents intertwined with dreams for the future.
