Talent pool: a strategic step into the future of the energy sector
On 25 December 2023, a meeting of JSC “AlES’s” talent pool with members of the Board of Directors was held. Regular dialogue is not only a tradition since 2014, but also a key moment in the exchange of ideas, experience and strategic vision.
The importance of forming a personnel reserve is undoubtedly important for ensuring sustainable development of the company. According to the report of the Head of the Human Resources Department, Daria Shayzhanova, the number of employees included in the strategic personnel reserve totals 111 people. Over the last two years, 26.1 per cent of employees have been promoted, which demonstrates the potential and quality of the talent pool.
Ruslan Turgambayev, Chairman of the Board of Directors, spoke about the long-term development plans of JSC “AlES” for ten years: renewal of CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov, Kapshagayskaya HPP named after Sh.Chokina, CHPP-1 named after B. Orazbayev, Cascade of hydroelectric power plants.
– For us, this meeting is not only an opportunity to present our successes, but also to discuss important aspects of the company’s work. For example, to share about staff dissatisfaction with the level of wages, said Akerke Iembergenova, Training Engineer at CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev. Her words reflect the general opinion of the reservists who provided information about their professional growth, participation in projects and training.
Igen Abdymomyn, Head of the Repair Service of CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov, spoke about dissatisfaction with social and living conditions at the production site and long procurement procedures. At the meeting a block of problematic issues was voiced: poor co-operation and mutual understanding between production and commercial departments, lack of housing policy in the company, difficulties of the repair campaign.
Reservists proposed to organise on a permanent basis professional development of employees of electric shops, to involve mentors in personnel training, to continue the courses of office work in the state language.
Mamrayeva Bikensulu, Chief Specialist of the Services Department, believes that such meetings are invaluable experience, an opportunity to express their thoughts and vision, receive feedback and inspiration for new achievements.
The meeting became a platform for an open exchange of views, members of the talent pool received confirmation of the importance of their role in the company and were convinced of the support and interest of the management in their further development.
