Safety and modernization as priority
AlES JSC held an offsite meeting of the repair headquarters involving young specialists
An offsite meeting of the repair headquarters of AlES JSC was held at CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev in a new format – it engaged the representatives of the youth organization. The participants assessed the progress of modernization of the station, inspected the new transformer TDC 80000/110, delivered at the end of March of 2025.
Equipment upgrade
Transformer №6 TD-80000/110 st., commissioned in the 1970s, has worked out two fleet lives. It is being replaced with a modern alternative as part of a program to improve the reliability of the power system.

– We are open and transparent in the work we do. The primary objectives include personnel safety and production efficiency. There should be no barriers between management and employees, emphasized Yerik Mashirov, Chairman of the Management Board of AlES JSC.

Safety as the core of labor culture
The main topic of the meeting was compliance with safety regulations.
– The year 2025 is declared as the Year of Working Professions across the country, and in the Group of Companies of Samruk-Energy JSC – as the Year of Safety Techniques. Our goal is to minimize risks for employees. We will analyze in detail the incidents at CHPP-1 and CHPP-3 to exclude their repetition, emphasized Baurzhan Kaliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Chief Engineer.
The participants analyzed the causes of dangerous situations recorded this year, identified weaknesses and measures to eliminate them. Special attention was paid to the training of young specialists:
– Safety culture is when every employee clearly knows what to do and how to do it, as well as understands what should not be allowed. A Stop Work card is a tool that can save a life, said Karim Sartaev, Head of the Occupational Health and Safety Department.

Focus on training
A training program on operation and health and safety developed by A.A. Kim, former Chief Engineer of the plant, has been implemented at CHPP-1. Training is conducted by the veteran power engineer twice a week:
– Boiler Shop has already passed the course, next week employees of the Electric and Turbine Shops will start training. Those who fail the tests will be given more training, but the emphasis is on knowledge, not sanctions, explained Zhanabek Adilkhanov, Director of CHPP-1.

CHPP-3 also plans to strengthen the control:
– “We will re-evaluate the risks, draw up a list of hazardous areas, and conduct additional briefings,” said Tulegen Kochkinbayev, the station’s chief engineer.

For the first time, young specialists took part in a meeting of the maintenance centre:
– “We observed how seriously the management takes the safety of employees. Every incident is analyzed to the last detail to avoid tragedies. This is a great way to teach responsibility”, said Adil Bildayev, instrumentation and control engineer at B.Orazbayev CHPP-1.

Contractor supervision
When approving the schedule of repair works with contractors, special attention was paid to safety compliance. All contracts will include strict requirements for safety at production departments.

AlES JSC keeps on strengthening safety culture, combining equipment modernization with systematic personnel training. Involvement of young people in management processes and open interaction between management and employees are becoming a new standard for the company.
