Run for healthy children

The Samruk Charity Marathon has raised 200 million tenge. These funds will be used to establish 10 integration classrooms for children with special educational needs. This noble goal brought together around 3,000 participants at the start of the Samruk Charity marathon on an early May morning. The participants included employees and partners of the Samruk-Kazyna group of companies, as well as residents of Astana. Eight power engineers from AlES JSC also took up the challenge.

The marathon was held in the capital city over two distances – 5 and 10 kilometres. Greeting the athletes, Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, noted that the number of participants had increased from 1,200 in 2024 to this year’s 3,000. Demonstrating his support for the tradition in word and deed, he also took part in the run, covering the 10-kilometre distance.

Marathon runners from AlES achieved good results. Three athletes from the Almaty – based company took the place on the podium. Second place in the M 60+ category in the 10 km race was taken by Gaziy Zhumabayevich Ismukhambetov, advisor to the Chairman of the Management Board of AlES JSC. He finished the race in 43 minutes and 38 seconds.

Yerzhan Zhanmailov, chief specialist of the Maintenance Department at AlES JSC, won the bronze medal in the M 40-49 category in the 10 km race. He finished the race in 38 minutes and 59 seconds. Another bronze medal went to Bekzat Kalelov, an electrician at the CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev of AlES JSC, who also did his best to complete the 10 km distance. He represented the company in the M 18-29 age group, completing the race in 40 minutes and 13 seconds.

“This is my second time participating in the Samruk Marathon. This year, I won third place in my age group, which I am very happy about,” said Bekzat. “I was delighted to take part in such an event, which gives people the opportunity to help extraordinary children in an extraordinary way – by running. I hope the Samruk Marathon will continue in the future.”

Zhanerke Panarkhanqyzy, a production preparation engineer at PRP Energoremont, won seventh medal for participation and set a new personal record.

“Running has become an integral part of my life and inspires me again and again. It is always nice when sport brings together not only people but also entire companies. I am glad that our team is now part of this initiative, said Zhanerke. I tried to enjoy every moment of the race: the architecture of the country’s capital, the landscapes of the Botanical Park and the incredible vibe around me.

We would like to express our gratitude to @samrukmarathon for this inspiring charity run.

I would also like to thank AlES JSC for the opportunity to participate as part of the team in such large-scale and significant projects. I am delighted when something enjoyable is combined with something meaningful. We look forward to future events.”

The goal itself, its nobility and significance, was decisive for many marathon participants, both for the children who will have the opportunity to develop and overcome their illness, and for society as a whole. After all, by organizing and participating in such charity campaigns, people demonstrate their best qualities and their willingness to help those who are in dire need of support.

“The Samruk Charity Marathon in Astana is an excellent initiative: everything was well organized, with a warm atmosphere and crowds of people. My impressions are overwhelmingly positive,” emphasized Dias Asylbek, Lead Production Management Engineer at PRP Energoremont. “It was nice to run alongside my colleagues and participate in a good cause. The funds raised from the marathon will go to support children with special needs, which is really important.”

This is also really important for Aset Amirbekov, head of the repair service at the CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev. He noted that thanks to team spirit and collective energy, the station’s staff not only became more united, but also contributed to promoting running among employees. Working together towards a common goal and shared interests brings people together and unites them.

“Running is in many ways similar to life itself: you set a goal, determine the distance, distribute your strength and go for the result. The important thing is not to burn out halfway, but to conserve your energy, believe in yourself and achieve your goals.”

This is especially important if the goal is noble in every sense …
