Pure river – pure soul: Ales contributes to the environment

Dedicated to the Day of the Ecologist, June 5, 2025, the ecologists of AlES JSC again proved: care for nature is not just words, but real actions. As part of the environmental campaign under the motto “#Taza ozen – Taza Zhan degen soz”, they organized an outbound clean-up day to clean up the territory along the Prokhodnaya River in the picturesque Alma-Arasan Gorge.

This ecological field trip has already become a good tradition. The idea is simple: to combine a professional holiday with concern for the environment, to contribute to the purity of native nature and remind society of the importance of a responsible attitude towards it.

– The Prokhodnaya River is not just a natural object. This is a source of life, part of the city’s ecosystem and a beloved vacation spot for Almaty residents. But, unfortunately, its shores are increasingly suffering from garbage. We could not stand aside, – said Saltanat Zhanakhmetova, chief manager of the Environmental Protection Department. – The problem of pollution of water bodies is a real challenge facing all of humanity.

As a result of the campaign, AlES employees collected about 20 bags of garbage. Plastic waste prevailed: bottles, bags, cutlery, as well as glass shards, household waste and even diapers.

– The enormous amount of single-use plastic is was hit the most. All this represent a consequence of human negligence. After all even one discarded package can harm animals and pollute water. We must change our attitude to the world around us, said Ainel Kurmanbayeva, chief specialist of the department.

Environmental engineer of the Kapshagai HPP named after Sh.Chokin Meruert Chimbayeva added: – Our campaign is not only about cleaning, but also a way to draw attention to the problem of plastic pollution. We believe that such initiatives can inspire others to make a change.

Environmentalists also recalled about the measures that help reduce plastic pollution:

• plastic recycling;
• eliminating single-use plastic products;
• enlightenment and education of ecological culture from an early age.

Their words are especially consonant with the reflections of the famous Kazakhstani cosmonaut Talgat Musabayev, who, having seen the Earth from space, has realized its fragility and beauty: “The Earth is one big ship, and we are all members of the same crew. Let’s keep our shared home safe!”
