Public monitoring of the CHPP modernization project

The Almaty City Monitoring Group visited AlES JSC and conducted public monitoring of the investment project “Modernization of Almaty CHPP-2 with minimisation of environmental impact”.

The visit took place on 1 August 2024 in accordance with the Work Plan of the Public Council of Almaty. The group consisted of Public Council members, experts, Maslikhat deputy, city activists headed by Gulmira Baigabulova, Chairperson of Commission No.2 on Construction, Land Relations, Urbanism and Water Supply.

The monitoring group had an opportunity to inspect the site on site, meet with representatives of the Client’s Engineer, AlES JSC, and the contractor organisation. Representatives of the city community were interested in the progress of implementation, structure and timing of the project completion, experience of the EPC contractor, and asked questions to the project participants. An open and constructive exchange of views of all parties took place at the site of CHPP-2.

We as representatives of the public, and with us today and the deputy of Maslikhat Timur Yeleusizov, thank AlES JSC for the organised meeting. I am sure that by joint efforts we will achieve the set goals, and the air in the city will be cleaned in strictly established terms”.

Modernization of Almaty CHPP-2 will reduce emissions of harmful substances, while ensuring the reliability and efficiency of energy supply.
