Nauryz holiday at AlES: celebration of traditions, unity and joy

The employees of AlES JSC and their families plunged into the bright atmosphere of Nauryz on 12 April. Sunny weather, national music and traditional treats created a unique spirit of the holiday, which this year surprised with a new format, combining a concert, national sports games, cultural ceremonies and entertainment for the kids.

– This is more than just a holiday – it serves as a bridge between generations” said Galym Zhanbyrshy, a veteran of the power industry, speaking warmly about the event. “AlES preserves traditions, but is not afraid to experiment. Holidays are organized for the purpose of team building. Today I see young people participating in competitions and sports events with excitement. This is what continuity is all about!”

The guests were especially proud of the theatrical performances of Kazakh ceremonies. Each production department put its heart and soul into the performances:

– CHPP-3 recreated a touching betashar – the moment when the bride unveils her face to her relatives.

– ZTC had everyone astonished with the spectacular performance of kyzuzatu where Mukhamed Kuan, a boiler operator at the boiler shop and three-time arm wrestling champion of the company, acted as the groom’s friend: “I decided to challenge myself. We have rehearsed forfortnight so that every detail was perfect!”

– Energoremont touched hearts with a tusaukeser ceremony of baby Akhmetali’s first steps. His father, Zhasulan Saunbekov, shared: “My son has just started walking, but he has already become a symbol of our holiday. It is a blessing to see how our colleagues support our family”.

– The Cascade of HPP captivated the audience with a magnificent kudalyk performance. The employees, acting like professional actors, conveyed the humor, wisdom and emotions of the ancient ceremony, making the audience laugh and give them a standing ovation.

– CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov revived the ancient ceremony of kopisu (greetings). So sincere and fiery was the drama performance that the audience, unable to hold back smiles, started an improvised dance right near the stage.

– Kapshagai HPP named after Sh.Chokin immersed guests in the atmosphere of shildekhana – a ritual for the young mothers. The employees did not just show the ritual, but recreated it with reverent accuracy: from folk costumes to ancient tunes.

– CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev staged a real performance of “balany atka mingizu” (introducing the child to a horse) For this purpose they have purposely invited a skillful dzhigit (horseman) with a magnificent horse, and the little ‘hero’ of the ceremony, the son of the employee, enthusiastically accepted the first salutations in his life as a future batyr (Kazakh brave man).

– The receiving and offloading centre started the program with a dynamic aytys – a poetic competition of akyns (Kazakh folk poet). Witty lines, rhythmic kyuis and sparkling humor set the tone for the whole holiday.

A spirit of sport reigned on the sports ground. Participants squatted in “koshkar koteru” (lifting a ram) with a moulage of a ram, and Azamat Turysbayev, a machinist of CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev, did 111 lifts! “40kg is a serious weight, but when the whole team cheers, even fatigue recedes. The winner squatted 270 times, so there is something to aspire to,” he smiled.

Other events were not lagging behind: in arkantartu(tug-of-war), the teams pulled ropes until they were hoarse, and in sadaq atu, sharp shooters competed in archery. Even pensioners like Galina Kubrak from Zhakutov CHPP-2 joined the games: ‘The energy of Nauryz energizes me – I feel myself young again! AlES have always been famous for its friendly team. Such holidays bring us even closer together.

While parents participated in contests, children were frolicking in a special zone. Aibike, daughter of Indira Suleimenova, head of the Chemical Shop at CHPP-3, kept her eyes on the chocolate fondue: “Mum always cooked nauryz-kozhe at home, and today we draw and laugh together. This is the best present!”

For over 20 years, Beibit Maksutov, head of the boiler shop at CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev, has been cooking pilaf for Nauryz for his colleagues. This year he was a guest for the first time: “I tasted the pilaf – it was worthy! Very tasty. But the secret of my recipe will still remain a secret”, he joked.

The concert program united all generations, from pensioners to children. Balzhan Abiden, secretary of Kapshagai HPP named after Sh.Chokin and a participant in the shildekhana ritual, admitted: ‘We wrote the script ourselves and rehearsed after shifts. So many emotions – it was like returning to childhood!’

The event was concluded with a common dance and wishes for well-being.

– Everything was organized brilliantly! Well-dressed colleagues, photo zones, concert – thank you for the holiday! – noted Maryam Bekmukhamedova, an engineer for the organization of labor standardization at the Armaturno-mechanical shop of Energoremont.

Daniyar Zhumayev, a machinist-overman of the turbine shop of B.Orazbayev CHPP-1 summed up: “Sunshine, laughter of children, and pride for the team – such Nauryz will be remembered for years. Thank you, AlES, for making us one whole family!”

May this day be the start of new achievements, and the spirit of unity, like spring wind, lead the company to success!
