Major environmental protection measures to be implemented in 2025
The following major environmental protection activities are scheduled to be implemented in 2025, including:
Atmospheric air protection:
It is planned to carry out measures to maintain the degree of cleaning of ash collectors at boiler units of the plants, repair and replacement of air heater cubes, repair of burners of boiler units, emulsifiers, measures on anticorrosion works, replacement of metal structures, measures to improve efficiency, eliminate disturbances in the technological cycle at boiler units, dedusting of fuel supply paths, mode adjustment works at boiler units, aspiration units of CHPP-1, 2, 3. It is planned to carry out emission monitoring and impact monitoring at the boundary of the sanitary protection zone of all production departments and to implement energy and fuel saving measures.
On protection and rational use of water resources:
Measures are planned for repair and replacement of ash pipelines, pumping equipment in boiler, turbine, chemical shops, treatment facilities of CHPP-1, reduction of water losses during ash and slag waste transportation at CHPP-2 and CHPP-3, repair of industrial recycling system (dredge-pump house, cooling towers) at CHPP-2, sanitary and microbiological studies of water samples at Kapshagai HPP. It is planned to implement measures on water conservation.
On protection of land resources, rational use of subsoil, flora and fauna:
It is planned to replace worn-out pipelines to prevent spillage of ash-and-slag waste and pulp, landscaping of territories of administrative-territorial units, increase of green areas at CHPP-1, reclamation of degraded territories at CHPP-2, CHPP-3.
On production and consumption waste management, radiation, biological and chemical safety:
Measures are planned to prevent dusting of ash dumps of CHPP-1, 2, 3, recycling of waste paper, solid waste, mercury-containing lamps and other hazardous waste of departments of CHPP-1, 2, 3, ZTC, Kapshagai HPP, Cascade HPP, PRP “Energoremont”.
It is planned to organize challenges to recycle waste paper “What will remain after us…” and waste household batteries “Unplug yourself!” and an ecological campaign “The Hour of the Earth” in 2025.
The Company plans to organize field trips to clean up the Pokhodnaya River and to plant trees in the sanitary protection zone of production departments.
