Implementation of the 7th stage of the combined ash and slag removal system at CHPP-2 n.a. A.Zhakutov
On 18 October 2024, representatives and experts of DCREM for Almaty visited the drainage and dewatering hydrostructure of CHPP-2 n.a. A.Zhakutov. During the visit the current activities of the 7th stage of the project were discussed.
At this stage it is planned to transfer 3 800 000 m³ of ash and slag waste from section No.2 of drainage and dewatering hydrostructure to disposal sites No.2 and No.3. During the visit, expert of Department of the Committee on Regulation of Natural Monopolies Zhanna Slavko asked many questions about the progress of works, to which she received comprehensive answers from representatives of CHPP-2 n.a. A.Zhakutov.
According to Fazoil Salimov, Director of the plant, as of October 2024, the residual volume of ash and slag waste is approximately 175,000 m³. The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2024.
The purpose of this project is to ensure uninterrupted operation of CHPP-2 n.a. A.Zhakutov. Realization of the solution will allow to efficiently place ash and slag waste at disposal sites No.2 and No.3, as well as to ensure pulp reception in section No.2 of DOGS.
The combined ash and slag removal system at CHPP-2 is hydraulic: slag and ash through hydraulic ash removal channels, mixed with water, are transported to receiving tanks of bagger pumps. From where they are pumped by pumps to drainage and dewatering hydrostructure to disposal sites through six ash pipelines. The system operates in alternating mode with the use of operational sections No.1 and No.2 of drainage and dewatering hydrostructure to disposal sites, which after drying and drainage are stored at the site of dry ash and slag waste disposal.
