Female heroes working in non-feminine professions: perseverance and willpower are no obstacles to tenderness and happiness

There is nothing offensive in the division of professions into female and non-female, if we are objective. Partly the division is conditional and to a greater extent justified by the reasoning of nature about the earthly purposes of men and women. And only life circumstances, dreams and will of a man himself or technological breakthroughs facilitating labor can break this distinction, as well as ingrained age-old prejudices.

Many women, who have confidently learnt the “originally male” professions, are working in AlES JSC. They have achieved great success at their workplaces, having earned authority in the workplace through conscientious labour. At the same time, their non-feminine profession does not interfere with their feminine, beautiful, creative personalities, good hostesses, faithful friends, loving mothers and wives.

How do they live in such a difficult professional and social status? We decided to ask them on the eve of International Women’s Day and asked them six simple questions about their challenging profession and happiness.

  • What circumstances or stories determined your choice of a non-feminine profession?
  • What was the most difficult part of mastering it?
  • Whose ‘shoulder’ did you lean on?
  • What advice do you have for those who go against all odds to reach their goal?
  • What female hobby makes you happy?
  • What is your wish to your colleagues?

Gulnara Abdumalikova MALIKOVA, 3 rd grade pumping unit operator, boiler shop of ZTC

My choice of profession was conditioned at that time by stability of the salary.

I can honestly say that everything was initially very hard for me, as I had no experience in this sphere. But over time, thanks to the help of experienced colleagues and my diligence I was able to overcome all the difficulties. I relied on the shoulder of colleagues with great experience. And they were always ready to help, advice, and explain. I am very grateful to my colleagues. They are: Pavel Bronislavovich Okhman, shift supervisor of the boiler shop, Igor Vladimirovich Kogtev, senior machinist of the boiler shop. I think it is important to have such support at work, especially when you face new tasks or difficult situations. I think it is important not only for women to always feel and know that there is support and you can always get necessary and timely advice.

My advice to those who are heading towards their goals: be confident in yourself and don’t be afraid of difficulties. The path to success is not always straight, sometimes you have to face obstacles to achieve what you desire. But – the main thing is not to stop, keep faith in your strength and use every experience as a lesson for further growth.

Of course, I have some female hobbies that bring me joy. I like to take care of flowers, thus creating a cozy home environment. Flowers give me a sense of harmony and joy in life!

Dear colleagues, I wish you to keep moving forward, not to stop at what has been achieved! May the work bring not only a stable income, but also satisfaction. Strive for constant growth, improve your skills and develop as professionals.

May there always be a friendly atmosphere in our team, and support and mutual trust will help us to achieve common goals.

Kamila ATESH, pumping unit operator (fuel oil) of 3rd category of boiler shop of CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov

Like any woman who has chosen a non-feminine profession, my choice was determined, of course, by life circumstances. I was offered a job at CHPP 2 during a not very favorable period of my life, and I accepted it without hesitation. In addition to the proximity to my home, this job has many advantages… I have coped with the circumstances and challenges and I like my job.

The hardest part for me was the adaptation period, both theoretically and practically. It was also difficult to get used to the work schedule, and it was important to make friends with colleagues, to integrate into the team.

At first I had doubts… Would I be able to do it? Would I succeed? The position requires a lot of responsibility, and you need to be always ready, both physically and mentally. But I was trained and coped with everything. My colleagues helped me in many ways, sometimes with deeds and sometimes with advice. Experienced colleagues shared their experience and encouraging words. I would like to express my gratitude to the management for believing in me.

In my experience I can say that there is nothing I could not overcome in life, for the sake of my family and for the sake of my children. I cannot allow myself to give up and fall into despair. And to those who set goals for themselves and achieve them, I say, “Way to go!”

I have not lost my feminine: I love to be with my family and children, I love cooking, and like any woman, I love travelling and shopping!

I would like to wish my colleagues, certainly, health, as our work is hard physically and morally, even dangerous, so take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Tatyana Anatolyevna AYUPOVA, 4th grade gas equipment maintenance and repair mechanic at the boiler shop of B.Orazbayev CHPP-1

I have always liked to do manual work and to understand technology. There were always men around who did manual labor, and I decided that I could do the same. That’s how I chose this profession!

The hardest part of the profession was learning how to work with machines such as lathes and drills. I had to work precisely, and I was worried at first that I wouldn’t be able to do it. It was also difficult to learn how to repair gas equipment, because you have to know everything thoroughly to work safely. And it wasn’t easy to learn how to turn the gas cap in the right position, especially if the equipment is old.

Especially if the equipment is aged and old, I was assisted at the beginning by the shop manager and foreman who explained how to do everything correctly. My colleagues, the more experienced fitters, also always helped with advice and showed me how not to make mistakes. In our business it is important to always have support from the outside.

My advice to those who are looking for their own way and going thaught: don’t give up, even if something doesn’t work out. If you stumble, get up and keep going. The main thing is to keep going towards your goal, without stopping, and then everything will work out. It may be hard, but it’s temporary, and the result will be worth all the effort.

I really like to bake cakes and all sorts of goodies for my grandchildren. It makes me happy when they say “thank you” and ask for more. It is such a pleasant activity that helps me to relax and feel needed. I wish all my colleagues to be healthy and always needed! It is important to support each other in our profession and work in harmony. May there be more joy in life and everything always turns out as it should at work.

Kulasiya Almatayevna LIMASHEVA, pumping unit operator at CHPP-3

I myself live in the Kuat neighbourhood and have always been interested in CHPP-3. I was interested in how it is to work at the station. That’s why I went to work here!

There was nothing difficult about it. It’s just if you have a desire, it’s easy to work. My husband also works at the station. We work in the same shop. And he helped me in all matters and always supported me.

I wish those who go their own way to be persistent and pursue their goals.

My feminine hobbies are simple: I like cooking and knitting very much!

I wish my colleagues to flourish, family prosperity, success in their work and high wages!
