ЭКО NOMAD: labor of love for nature

A very special atmosphere filled the “Yuzhny” Park in Almaty on April 19, 2025 – this was the venue of the “ECO NOMAD” environmental campaign, supported and attended by the leaders of the Samruk-Kazyna Foundation.

Regardless of the chilly morning, the Park was filled with genuine warmth – smiles, team spirit and a common commitment to clean up and green up the native city.

The campaign was attended by young volunteers from various companies of the Fund’s group. The team of AlES JSC – 20 energetic young specialists – cleaned the territory with great enthusiasm, collected last year’s leaves and planted new trees. Everything took place in a friendly and united atmosphere, with a sincere desire to make the world around better to live in.

Yuzhny Park was not chosen by chance. A few years ago this green zone faced the threat of being constructed. Thanks to the activity of city residents, the park was preserved and became a symbol of responsibility and their love for nature. Nowadays activities like this help to make it even cozier and greener.

“When you work alongside each other, even the clean-up turns into a holiday. We got acquainted, made friends – and realized: it’s not only about ecology, it’s about people,” said volunteer Yersultan Abdramanov, senior inspector for industrial safety and labor protection at Zhakutov CHPP-2.

AkerkeOrazova, a training engineer at the Human Resources Department of B.Orazbayev CHPP-1, attended the clean-up for the first time:

– During the clean-up day I learnt that this place used to be called the Alumni Park or even the Park of Newlyweds. It is spacious, beautiful, and truly alive. We collected dozens of bags with leaves and branches, and there was almost no household rubbish – that’s good. Such actions unite different people for an important common cause’.

Adilet Onalbek, senior industrial safety inspector at Energoremont, also took part for the first time:

“This is the first clean-up day for me. We cleaned up last year’s leaves and tidied up the territory. A clean city is a shared responsibility. It is important that we have an opportunity to devote our free time to such a useful cause. We have a great team, nice young people – fun and productive”.

The ‘ECO NOMAD’ environmental campaign has become a part of the large-scale Taza Kazakhstan movement and a vivid example of how simple, kind deeds – cleaning leaves or planting a tree – become a contribution to the common future.

“We work for the present, but we think about the future. And we do it together,” the participants summarized.
