Conserve, rather than waste: AlES held a No Paper Day
Employees from all production departments and the head office voiced their support for the environmental day. People responded enthusiastically: they cut back on printing documents, switched to electronic versions, collected drafts, and shared simple but effective tips with each other.

“Seventeen trees are cut down to produce just one ton of paper,” says Elena Davydova, environmental engineer at the CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev. “If we don’t change anything, we are heading for an ecological disaster. We cannot stand aside.

Svetlana Yermolina, environmental engineer at CHPP-3, agrees with her:
“We have lived too long by the principle of the “slash-and-burn” attitude. But the ecosystem cannot be restored in a year or two – it takes decades, and sometimes centuries. Every sheet of paper saved today is a chance to preserve the forest and the planet’s ability to breathe.

At AlES JSC, an important step towards ‘green’ solutions was taken back in 2019: the introduction of electronic document management on the 1C:Enterprise platform made it possible to significantly reduce paper consumption.
“At first glance, it seems like simple automation. But if you calculate how much paper we have saved over the years, it amounts to an entire forest!” notes Saltanat Zhanahmetova, Chief Manager of the Environmental Protection Department. “Today, we have a choice: to continue acting in an environmentally friendly manner or to return to the past. We choose the former.
The campaign reminded everyone that caring for nature is not just a slogan, but concrete steps that everyone can take. And not only at work, but also at home. Using electronic receipts, taking notes on your phone, recycling waste paper, and refusing unnecessary printouts are simple but effective measures.
AlES JSC is already implementing an environmental campaign to collect waste paper called ‘What will remain after us…”, and ‘Paperless Day’ became another contribution to the common cause – preserving the future.
Tips for every day: how to reduce paper use.
In the office:
- switch to electronic documents and email;
- use double-sided printing;
- print only when necessary;
- use drafts;
- recycle waste paper;
- sign documents with an electronic signature.
At home:
- Receive bills and receipts online.
- Take notes on your phone.
- Use reusable bags.
- Collect paper for recycling.
At AlES, we believe that change starts small – with caring for every sheet of paper, every drop of water, every resource. Together, we can preserve what is truly valuable – living nature for future generations. Every conscious step you take is a contribution to a clean and green tomorrow.
