Commissioning: a step towards the future of energy

In June 2025, a commissioning group was created at AlES JSC – a team of experienced and initiative employees entrusted with a special mission: preparing for the operation of a new CHPP-2 and mastering modern technologies in the field of gas turbine installations. The decision to form the group was made on the basis of a protocol meeting, and the chief specialist of the Operation Service Baglan Azimkhanov was appointed its curator.

From the first days, the GPR participants took a high pace. They took the course “Operation of gas turbines” on the basis of the training and production site of the Personnel Training Department of AlES JSC, where they studied the theory, design and principles of operation of gas turbine installations. But the main thing is that they began to form a professional community that unites knowledge and practice.

At the initiative of the curator, from October 6 to 10, part of the group completed an internship at Aktobe CHPP JSC, where gas turbine units have been successfully operated since 2023. The purpose of the trip is to exchange experience, get acquainted with advanced technologies and organization of production processes.

“For us it was not just training, but an opportunity to see how modern GTUs work in real conditions,” Bauyrzhan Bekturov, chief specialist of ASKUE and APCS CHPP-1 them, shares his impressions. “We studied the principles of start-up and shutdown, discussed operating modes, and an automation system. All this will come in handy in practice in the near future.

Zhasulan Eleu, senior engineer of the turbine shop CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutova notes: “The trip showed how important teamwork is. Each of us saw our own area of responsibility, understood how to combine the experience of different AlES stations with new technological approaches.”

The curator of the Baglan Azimkhanov group emphasizes: “The main goal of the commissioning group is not only to gain knowledge, but also to grow the internal potential of the company. We train specialists who can confidently work with new technologies and ensure reliable operation of the equipment of the future.”

Setting up a commissioning team is a strategic step JSC “AlES” in training personnel for upcoming modernization projects. This is the company’s confidence in its own strength, in the continuity of experience and in the professionalism of the people who shape the future of Almaty’s energy sector.
