CHPP-1 n.a. B.Orazbayev: safety and efficiency in the new heating season
On the eve of the start of the heating season in Almaty, start-up works on the turnaround of CHPP-1 n.a. B.Orazbayev were started. The boiler unit of station No.10 and turbine unit of station No.8 were switched on, which gave a start to the generation of electricity and heat. The equipment will be connected as needed depending on the needs for electricity and heat.
During the current year’s repair campaign at the power plant, scheduled repair works were carried out on the main equipment, including six power boilers, seven hot water boilers and three turbine units. Technical diagnostics of all auxiliary equipment was also carried out. These measures will ensure the reliability and efficiency of the plant’s operation in the upcoming heating season.
– By the time of the start-up, the power plant personnel were fully prepared for the start-up operations. The equipment was tested in advance, which made it possible to make sure that it was operational and reliable before start-up. Thanks to the coordinated and qualified actions of all personnel of CHPP-1 n.a. B.Orazbayev, the organizational measures for the turnaround of the plant were completed on time. All main and auxiliary equipment is ready for operation during the autumn-winter period of 2024-2025, – said Alibek Tastanbekov, Director of the plant.
Almaty CHPP-1 is one of the oldest plants in Kazakhstan and is located in the Zhetysu district of Almaty, practically in the central part of the city. Almaty CHPP-1 is a source of centralised heat supply in Almaty and operates in semi-peak mode. The main consumers of CHPP-1 are the housing and communal sector and industrial enterprises of Almaty.
Next year Almaty CHPP-1 will celebrate its 90th anniversary. Designing and construction of the first stage of Alma-Ata Central Energy Stations (now CHPP-1) began in 1931. And on 25 October 1935 the first unit was put under load. In 1936, 1.8 mln. kWh of electricity was generated. Today this electricity generation is equal to the daily operation of the station. Alma-Ata CHPP-1 generated heat energy for the first time in 1961.
Since its start-up to date, CHPP-1 has generated a total of 39,514 mln. kWh of electricity and 158.93 mln. Gcal of heat energy.
