ALES specialists studied the experience of operating CCGT in Karabatan Utility Solutions
In November 2025, the commissioning group of AlES JSC made a working trip to the Karabatan Utility Solutions LLP enterprise, where four 50 MW gas turbine generators and two 55 MW steam turbine generators are operated. The trip was aimed at studying the practical experience of operating combined cycle plants, issues that arose during the construction and commissioning period, as well as the principles of organizing the work of personnel.

The specialists of AlES JSC got acquainted in detail with the operating modes of the equipment, the schemes of interaction of services, the documentation system and approaches to the distribution of duties at the facility. The participants noted that the real experience of operating CCGTs makes it possible to prepare much faster and more confidently for the commissioning of their own gas turbine capacities.
Chief Specialist of the Operation Service Baglan Azimkhanov emphasized the importance of the information received:
“We have seen how work is organized at the facility, which is already functioning stably. This confirmed the correctness of many of our decisions and gave an understanding of what points require special attention”.

Continuing the topic of technical training, Bauyrzhan Bekturov, chief specialist of ASKUE and APCS CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbaev noted the importance of getting acquainted with automated systems: Colleagues spoke in detail about the logic of the APCS and the adjustments that had to be implemented during operation. Such experience will allow us to avoid mistakes at the start.
The issues of equipment operation in real conditions were detailed by the senior turbine shop operator CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov Bartiyar Ryskaliyev: “We saw the equipment in real work – in different load modes and under different conditions. This gives a deeper understanding of future tasks.”
Baidaulet Yerdikhan, electrician of the Electric Workshop CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov noted the high level of labor organization at the facility: “The work of the services is built clearly and consistently. It can be seen that the staff is well trained and the operating culture is at a high level”.
His colleague in the shop Zhambyl Zhakenov drew attention to the issues of safety and protection of equipment:” Colleagues openly shared what happened in the early stages, what problems arose and how they were solved. It’s an experience that’s valuable to everyone.”
Roman Tkachev, APCS engineer at TTAI of CHPP-2, emphasized the importance of studying control systems: “We received useful information about software settings and engineering circuits. This is material that cannot be obtained only on theory.”
Arman Rimzhanov, senior turbine operator CHPP-2 noted the importance of understanding the interaction of the gas and steam parts:" CCGT is a complex where everything affects everything. The trip allowed us to see this relationship and understand what competencies we need to strengthen.”
The knowledge gained will be the basis for adjusting the commissioning team training program, developing operational instructions and forming the structure of future gas turbine equipment maintenance units. Following the trip, AlES specialists noted that the business trip was an important stage in preparing for the commissioning of their own gas turbine units and strengthened confidence in the correctness of the chosen direction of development.
