AlES grows champions: on the pedestal of Asia… is a locksmith
Two more medals – silver and bronze – replenished the collection of sports awards of the Almaty power engineer, part-time powerlifter, foreman of the section for the repair of shutoff valves of the PRP “Energoremont” JSC AlES Oleg Pekushchev.
In October, he took part in the Asian Powerlifting Championship, which took place in Hong Kong. Despite the high competition in the bench press discipline, Oleg lost only to the current world champion from Japan Goto Takashi and in a decent fight became the second in his weight category up to 83 kg. Oleg’s silver result is 200 kg. And in the overall standings, the Kazakhstani athlete took third place.
Oleg Pekushchev already had a victorious – golden dignity – 2018 Asian Championship in Dubai. He became a medalist in the disciplines of bench press and squatting with the barbell of the 2019 Asian Championship, which was held in Almaty. In the championship piggy bank, energy and silver of the 2022 World Bench Press Championship. This, apart from numerous awards of the championships of Kazakhstan.
In Hong Kong, Oleg once again confirmed his high sports status and proved that if a person is passionate and purposeful, then there are no obstacles on the way to new heights. But the Asian Championships in Hong Kong were special for him.
“It was record in terms of the number of participating countries and athletes, which significantly increased competition and increased the final results in all weight categories,” Oleg Pekushchev shares his impressions. – Here the most representative and strong teams were Russia, Japan and Kazakhstan.
The trip to the Asian Championships in Hong Kong was especially interesting, also because it is a colorful, amazing and unique metropolis. Until 1997, the city was part of Great Britain, so the advanced cultures of European, Asian and, in particular, Chinese civilization harmoniously mixed here. It is an advanced city with modern European architecture and skyscrapers in the city center and traditional Chinese national structures on the outskirts. I was surprised that the share of electric vehicles in Hong Kong is 15% – about 135 thousand cars. It’s impressive.
Oleg, a sixth-grade locksmith, has not only a rich sports career, but also a successful professional path, beloved, albeit very hard work. At the same time, he organized a small gym, which has everything you need to prepare future champions of AlES JSC. Here he is engaged in himself, trains his young colleagues and generally leads an active lifestyle. I must say that coaching is his first specialty in diploma: Oleg graduated from the Kazakh State Academy of Sports and Tourism.
One can only wonder how he finds time, working as a repairman, foreman, and also play sports. But, like sports, he has a responsible approach to his profession. Starting to work as a simple locksmith, Oleg Pekushchev studied at a university on the job and received a second higher education in the specialty “Automotive Engineer”.
However, the sports results and victories of the employees of AlES JSC can be considered a pattern: the company and its trade union pay great attention to social issues, supporting sports and cultural hobbies of power engineers. In both team and national sports, as well as in individual competitions in many sports, Ales traditionally take prizes, successfully combining work and hobbies. Like Oleg, they believe that sport disciplines, teaches the correct distribution of forces, load, and clearly distribute time.
Mutual obligations of the employer and employees are spelled out in the Collective Agreement of AlES JSC. And it contains articles providing for specific increased amounts of money transferred to the union’s current account. They are intended for cultural, fitness and sports events, as well as for other social purposes. The deduction was increased from 0.5% of the actual annual wage bill to 1%.
Moreover, within the framework of its obligations and labor legislation of the country, AlES JSC has implemented a number of social projects related to improvement, improvement of sanitary rooms and development of sports grounds where energy can be engaged.
And this time the union supported its employee. As before, Oleg Pekushchev’s participation in the Asian Championship in Hong Kong was mostly financed by the trade union committee of AlES Energia JSC.
We are proud that our employee with honor acted on competitions, having lifted a flag of Kazakhstan and Ales several thousand kilometers from Almaty. Oleg actively promotes a healthy lifestyle and, thanks to his achievements, is an example for the young generation of employees of our company.
Well, for Oleg Pekushchev, the past championship is history. He dreams of new competitions and new victories. It was not for nothing that he somehow admitted that he dreams that dreams will not end, but new ones will come to replace those that have come true!
