“Women for Women”: the power of creativity and unity in AlES JSC
Corporate project that inspired hundreds of hearts
On the eve of International Women’s Day, there was held an event in AlES JSC that has turned the idea of corporate culture upside down. The project “Women for Women” united talents, generosity and warmth of heart of the company’s employees, having proved that the magic is born when women support each other.
The initiative of the Women’s Club of AlES JSC turned the production sites and the office into creative workshops. The goal was not just to organize a Handmade festive fair, but also to create a space where every woman could feel valuable, capable and truly royal. Participating ladies from different production departments – from Kapshagai HPP named after Sh.Chokin, TPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov, TPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev, Fuel Receiving and Unloading Centre, Western Heat Complex, HPP Cascade to the head office – presented their works: baked pastries, jewellery, paintings and even exquisite Belgian chocolate.
– My chocolate heart shaped cookies with freeze-dried strawberries became a metaphor for the project. Everything here is created with love – as a gift to oneself and others, said Gaukhar Temirova, Leading Specialist of the Personnel Training Department.
This year, 77 women participated in the fairs, but the large scale impressed even the most skeptical. There were a lot of handicrafts on the tables and the air was filled with the scent of delicious freshly baked pastries.
The men of AlES JSC were not sidelined. They actively participated as consumers and helpers, emphasizing the importance of team unity.
– It seemed like a big family party. We have presented each other not only gifts, but emotions – and that is priceless, said Irina Ivanova, a pass office attendant at Kapshagai HPP named after Sh.Chokin.
The participants discovered the hidden talents of their colleagues. Galina Zabolotskaya, an economist at Kapshagai HPP named after Sh. Chokin, recalled smiling: “Who would have thought that our engineer can bake like a professional confectioner, and a fuel shop technician can create jewellery that is worthy of fashion boutiques?”
Asel Shikobayeva, a unit operator at the chemical shop of CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov, added: “The fair showed that creativity resides in everyone. Even those who work with charts and machines can create beauty with their hands”.
– Spring has come to us – to the FRDC! We have arranged a great holiday! We were amazed at the talents of our colleagues. We are a great team! – continued Gulmira Satybaldinova, a cleaner at the FRDC.
The Women for Women project has become that bridge between the production departments. Participants from CHPP-2 after A.Zhakutov, Kapshagai HPP after Sh.Chokin, CHPP-1 after B.Orazbayev, FRDC, Zapadnaya Thermal Complex, FRDC of HPP Cascade and head office, which are usually separated by kilometres, became a team on this day. Irina Mezhevskaya, technician at the Fuel and Transport Shop, emphasized: “We left behind our titles and ranks. Everyone here was equal – craftswomen, customers, and organizers”.
According to the organizers, the project is only the first step. The AlES Women’s Club is already planning to make this fair an annual event, as well as expand its structure to include master classes and talent festivals.
As Gaukhar Temirova noted: “Good starts with small things. Today we changed one day, tomorrow we can change much more”.
