The magic of simple steps: how small acts change the world around us

The story continued with an unexpected call from the canteen from the chemical shop technician Anare Suyunova. Aidana’s kitchen worker said that one of the workers brought a whole can of batteries in exchange for candy! We need urgent delivery of sweets! It was curious and surprised.

The driver of the tspvt locomotive Alexander Meshcheryakov brought 290 collected batteries.

– Three years ago, when we heard about the fact that environmentalists were collecting batteries, I turned to our group, and since then we have been actively engaged in it. We have assembled a 5 liter battery canister and this habit is well established in our team. Now we change the batteries for candy right here. There is no need to go anywhere else. The idea is great! – Alexander shared his experience.

Gulya Zhakaeva, chairman of the station’s trade union, helped to buy candy: “it’s good when there is mutual assistance in the team. Together we are strong, together we can protect our nature.”

Unexpectedly, this initiative was supported not only by the station staff, but also by outsiders. A friend of Assel Shikobaeva, an apparatchik who prepares chimreagents, learned about the dangers of batteries and the action at CHPP-2 and ordered such a box in his store.

– It is gratifying, because our movement can become a large-scale action, – shared with pride one of the initiators of the collection of batteries, a chemical water treatment machine Ayaulym Moldahan.
