The energy of cooperation: AlES welcomes guests from Germany
In mid-September, Almaty hosted the innovative iRIF forum ‘Energy Efficiency, Industrial IoT and Smart Metering’, organized as part of the IDEA East project with the support of the DAAD and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMFTR). The forum was not just a business platform, but a real meeting of like-minded people united by their desire for new knowledge, technologies and an environmentally friendly future.
A highlight of the programme was the participants’ visits to AlES facilities – CHPP-3 and Kapshagai HPP named after Sh.Chokin. It was here that the foreign guests were able to see the work of the Kazakh energy sector with their own eyes and feel its scale and significance.

“Visiting the AlES facilities was very inspiring for us. We learned a lot about heat and electricity production and discussed ideas that will definitely be reflected in future joint research and projects. This is an important experience for us, which we will take back to Germany,” shared Dr Eduard Siemens, professor at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences.
Professor Ainur Begimbetova, PhD, director of the AUES Centre for New Energy Policy, noted:
“Today, AlES is demonstrating real steps towards the transition to modern technologies – from coal to gas generation. This means fewer emissions, higher efficiency and more energy for the region. But most importantly, new challenges are emerging for future specialists.”

Together with AlES JSC, the university has launched a unique project: students will be able to undertake internships in Italy at Ansaldo Energia. All training and travel expenses will be covered by AlES. This is a chance for students to gain exposure to international practices and acquire invaluable knowledge.
Thanks to the cooperation between Samruk-Energo JSC, AlES JSC and AUES, educational programs will be updated in line with industry needs, and dual training and academic mobility will be introduced. This will enhance the prestige of the energy profession and open up international opportunities for young professionals.
For guests, visits to AlES facilities were not just excursions. They were meetings filled with attention, respect and the exchange of experience. In every workshop and at every station, there was a sense of openness and a willingness to share knowledge.
