Almaty Electric Stations JSC (hereinafter referred to as the Company), being one of the country’s largest energy producing companies, is aware of the importance of influencing the country’s economy, environment and society. For these purposes, the Company has introduced a system of continuous adherence to the principles of sustainable development, which allows for the promotion of a balance of interests of stakeholders, the application of a risk-based approach to management, which will allow achieving a sustainable increase in value and increasing competitiveness in the long term. Commitment to sustainable development is one of the operating principles of Almaty Power Plants JSC, in which the Company strives to ensure the consistency of its economic, environmental and social goals. The economic component directs the Company’s activities towards increasing long-term value, ensuring the interests of shareholders and investors, increasing the efficiency of processes, increasing investment in the creation and development of more advanced technologies, and increasing labor productivity. The environmental component ensures minimization of the impact on biological and physical natural systems, optimal use of limited resources, use of environmentally friendly, energy- and material-saving technologies, creation of environmentally acceptable products, minimization, recycling and destruction of waste. The social component is focused on the principles of social responsibility, which, among other things, include: ensuring occupational safety and preserving the health of workers, fair remuneration and respect for the rights of workers, individual development of personnel, implementation of social programs for personnel, creation of new jobs, carrying out environmental and educational events. The introduction of the principles of sustainable development in the Company is ensured by the Management in the field of sustainable development of Samruk-Energy JSC, Environmental Policy, Health and Safety Policy, Personnel Policy and other internal regulatory documents.
