Safety begins with us: strategic session at the CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev
A strategic session organized by Samruk-Energy JSC was held on 9-10 June 2025 at the CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev, dedicated to occupational health and safety, industrial safety and injury reduction. The event became part of a program aimed at forming a modern safety culture at all levels of management.

More than 80 representatives of the group of companies took part in the session, including 40 employees of AlES JSC – managers, engineers, occupational safety and maintenance specialists. Over two days, participants discussed the underlying causes of injuries, the root causes of accidents, and the role of leaders in ensuring a safe working environment.
The session program focused on analyzing accident statistics, reviewing real-life cases, interactive group discussions, and learning about best practices in the industry. Tools such as “behavioral conversations”, “safety minutes”, and “risk maps” were presented. Each participant recorded personal and team commitments to developing safe approaches in their area of responsibility.

“The session took place in a constructive atmosphere. The sharing of experiences and analysis of other companies practices proved to be very useful. I intend to apply the knowledge and approaches I have gained in my work,” said Maxim Mamyrin, Chief Engineer of the Kapshagai named after Sh.Chokin HPP.
Asset Alibekov, senior master of RZA ZTC, shared his impressions:
– The material was presented in an accessible way. The speakers, Zhanat and Kamal, skillfully engaged us in dialogue and controlled the dynamics of the discussions. We analyzed real emergencies and gained an understanding of how to prevent them. It was excellently organized session!

Kenzhebay Baizakh, head of the Fuel and Transport Department at the CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov, also enjoyed the session: “The information was relevant and presented in a clear manner. Occupational safety issues became more accessible and understandable.”
Alexander Miroshnichenko, head of the electrical machinery workshop at the Kapshagai HPP, added:
“The sharing of experience, practical methods, and engaging trainers all created a productive atmosphere. The session was substantive and sincere. This format is highly motivating.”
The strategic session has shown that safety is not a mere formality, but a conscious and constant choice made by each employee. It is exactly this attitude that lays the foundation for achieving the goal of zero injuries.
The next stage is the implementation of scheduled initiatives and regular monitoring of changes. The company becomes truly sustainable when safety is a valuable asset rather than a mere formality.
