Representatives of AlES took part in the USAID project
30 women from 4 Central Asian countries gathered in Almaty to promote the principles of gender equality
In mid-July, representatives of AlES JSC took part in the summer camp “The Role of Women in Implementing the Energy Transition in Central Asia.” This USAID project took place at the Almaty University of Energy and Communications. The main goal of the event is to unite women working in the energy sector and create a platform for promoting the principles of gender equality in the Kazakh energy industry. Representatives of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan arrived in Almaty.
– The four-day training was fruitful. We learned a lot of new things about the energy sector in Kazakhstan as a whole. I was especially interested in topics about staff motivation in the workplace and green energy. I liked the project of a participant from Tajikistan about the energy sector of her country. The Kazakhs have a proverb “Kyzdyn kyryk zhany bar” – it’s true, every woman manages to take care of her family, work, engage in public affairs, while most importantly, not forgetting about herself and remaining the beautiful half of society, – Zhadyra Soltanova, head of the HR department, shared her impressions CHPP-2 named after. A. Zhakutova.
Zhanerke Panarkhankyzy, training engineer at PRP Energoremont, noted that women are an important community. He believes that their presence and participation in the energy transition process plays an important role. Women can bring new ideas and experiences to the process, including on the environment, family issues and gender relations.
Leading engineer of the Metals and Welding Service Tatyana Vlasova especially remembered the third day, when she underwent training on developing soft skills.
– We took part in a game of governing countries. My team with girls from Tajikistan took third place. In addition, we closely communicated with colleagues from other Central Asian countries. We actively took part in the discussion of gender equality issues and energy problems in general. On the second day we visited the wind power plant in Konaev.
On the basis of the summer camp, a Central Asian community was created, uniting students, teachers and specialists from energy companies. It is planned to create a platform to promote the implementation of best global practices and modern technologies in the field of development and integration of renewable energy sources, as well as conducting research in the field of green energy. Representatives of AlES actively take part in this work and express gratitude to the organizers of the event.
