“Regular” night shift
For shift “B” CHPP-2 named after. A. Zhakutova New Year passed without champagne
On New Year’s Eve from December 31 to January 1, 78 station employees worked so that residents of Almaty and the region could watch “The Irony of Fate” on the TV screen in warmth and comfort and celebrate the long-awaited holiday.
Watch “B” began its shift at 20:00 on the last day of last year, and finished it at 8:00 am on the first of January. Energy experts say that this night is practically no different from all the others. For them, this is always responsible work in a special regime. The shift composition is standard – electric mechanics, electricians, machinists, linemen, laboratory assistants, station and workshop shift supervisors, i.e. operating personnel. If something very serious happens, the dispatcher notifies management.
Our colleagues told us what happens on New Year’s Eve at the station.
Kanat Zhakaev, station shift supervisor:
– I am proud that my work gives people light and warmth. On New Year’s Eve, our task is to fulfill the schedule of supplied electrical and thermal energy given by the control room. I don’t count how many New Year’s Eves I worked, but it was a lot in 30 years at the station. New Year is the brightest, most fun and most favorite holiday for me. We are not upset that we work on New Year’s Eve, our team is my second family. We congratulate each other, bring Olivier and herring under a fur coat from home. But no champagne!
Karlygash Dauletbekova, electrician of the main control panel of the power plant, 5th category of the electrical workshop:
– I celebrated the New Year at work for the first time. This duty, I think, is both especially responsible and routine. That night we put the generators to pressure testing, filled out meter sheets for all connections, etc. The festive table was set, naturally without forbidden drinks.
Rakhmatzhan Amutov, shift supervisor of the power plant workshop of the boiler shop:
– Working on New Year’s Eve doesn’t upset me at all, because my mother’s birthday is January 1st. Our whole family gathered at her place, we always have a double celebration. At work, we all congratulated each other and called home. Everyone was in a New Year’s mood, but the shift went on at its own pace. Since I have been working at the station for dozens of years, I can say that these days a special enhanced work regime begins at the stations, which obliges all managers to draw up a duty schedule in advance.
Shapulat Berdibaev, shift supervisor of the power plant workshop of the turbine shop:
– This is the ninth time I’ve been on duty on New Year’s Eve. And I’m not offended at all. It’s very sad, in my opinion, to go to work on the morning of January 1st. For me, the New Year is the beginning of the countdown in everything. You always expect something new, bright surprises. Working on holidays for us is the same shift as on other days, only with more responsibility.
Azamat Doskozhaev, operator of the central heat control panel for steam turbines, 6th category of the turbine shop:
– My work is the security of my family. The opportunity to realize yourself and implement professional plans, communicate, feel needed and useful. My job is to steadily withstand the given electrical and thermal load, to provide the city with uninterrupted heat and electricity. In six years of hard work at the station, this was the first duty on New Year’s Eve. We celebrated the holiday without incident, and worked our shift according to the schedule. The advantage of such duty is that you celebrated the New Year with your colleagues, who became your second family. The downside was probably the fact that I was away from my family. As a child, New Year was my favorite holiday. I always had a strange feeling that something magical and joyful was going to happen. And now this holiday for me, first of all, is a responsibility to my children so that they believe in Santa Claus.
Ravil Anvarov, operator of the central heating panel for boiler control, 7th category of the boiler shop:
– I work to invest a part of my labor for the benefit of the people. My job is to ensure continuous production of live steam for turbine units. On New Year’s Eve, I have already been on duty more than once. And every year brings its own new emotions, because our shift is one family, so celebrating the New Year at work is interesting in its own way. The New Year’s shift differs from other shifts in that on this day everyone is joyful with a New Year’s mood…
One day, during one of the New Year’s watches, an interesting incident occurred. At 00:00 we congratulated each other, and before everyone had time to shout Happy New Year, just at that moment we had an emergency situation on the boiler, and instead of a delicious meal we had to run and fix the problem… Our watch has its own tradition, if the shift falls on New Year’s Eve, then no one takes time off from work. In the coming year, I wish that everyone is valued in their workplaces. May the New Year bring health, happiness, success and lots of joy to everyone.
As a rule, New Year’s duty is the usual work of watch “B” without the presence of management at the station. Working for the New Year is a responsible matter: while everyone was festively relaxing, 78 employees of the operating staff of CHPP-2 named after. A. Zhakutov monitored the operation of turbine units, boilers and auxiliary equipment in order to detect the slightest deviations from the specified parameters in time.
