Reconstruction of objects in 2012
Results of fulfillment of investment obligations for Almaty Electric Power Plants JSC for 2012
In accordance with the signed Agreement “On Investment Obligations” with the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan and AREM, approved by the joint order “On approval of the investment program of the joint stock company “Almaty Electric Power Plants” for 2011-2012”, AlES JSC carried out measures to replace, renovation, reconstruction, technical re-equipment of existing assets, new construction, as well as maintaining the current level of production in the amount of 17.3 billion tenge.
As part of the fulfillment of Investment obligations, the following main activities were carried out:
— in 2012, KazRosEnergoProject LLP developed a feasibility study. “Reconstruction and expansion of CHPP-1 of AlES JSC with switching to gas and installing a CCGT unit.”
— “Cleaning the channel in the downstream of the Kapshagai hydroelectric station.” Construction and installation work has begun, as a result of which the expected decrease in the level of the tailwater will make it possible to additionally generate electrical energy at the Kapshagai hydroelectric station by an average of 16 million kWh per year.
— Projects have been developed for the exploitation of groundwater in the Almaty field at CHPP-1 and CHPP-2. The expected effect is cash savings in the amount of 72.2 million tenge.
— The expansion of the industrial water intake of CHPP-3 of the Pokrovsky groundwater deposit has been completed. Four production wells were drilled with a total source water production of 400 m3/hour.
— Water metering devices were installed on the main pipelines of the Cascade HPP (stages 1 and 2).
— To replace physically worn-out equipment and increase its service life, the thermal and hydropower equipment of CHPP-1, CHPP-2, CHPP-3, Kapshagai HPP and HPP Cascade was reconstructed, including:
- Magnetic water level indicators were installed in the drums of boiler units and PVD turbines of CHPP-1, CHPP-2, CHPP-3 in order to increase the reliability of operation of boiler units and PVD turbines.
- Reconstruction of 220 kV open switchgear equipment at Kapshagai HPP has begun
- A major overhaul of hydraulic unit No. 1 was carried out with complete disassembly and instrumental examinations to determine the residual service life of the Kapshagai HPP department in order to increase the reliability of power supply to consumers by restoring the service life of the units and elements of the hydraulic unit and hydrogenerator
— Reconstruction and expansion of the ash dump of CHPP-3. A set of measures has begun to expand the “Small” field of section No. 4, which will prevent the station from shutting down due to the lack of areas for receiving and disposing of ash and slag for the period 2013-2015.
— As part of the fulfillment of Investment obligations, the installation of 3 emulsifiers was completed (at CHPP-2 and CHPP-3). The requirements of environmental authorities were met, the efficiency of ash collection plants was increased, gross emissions of harmful substances (ash) were reduced, and the negative impact on the ecology of the region was reduced. The reduction in ash emissions from 3 boiler units amounted to 5,270 tons per year.
— In order to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides, the burner devices of the boiler units of CHPP-1 and CHPP-3 were modernized.
— Combined ash and slag removal system at CHPP-2 (stage 3). Carrying out construction and installation works. A set of measures has begun to prepare new ash dump tanks.
— Reconstruction of the turbogenerator outlets was carried out with the replacement of generator switches with a SF6 circuit breaker unit, a disconnector at TPP-2 — increasing the reliability of power supply to consumers, ensuring safe working conditions for maintenance personnel
— Reconstruction of fan cooling towers at st. No. 1 – 4 CHPP-3
— The medium-speed roller mill MVS-125A st. was replaced. No. 11 “B” of the Department of Thermal Power Plant-1.
