On the eve of Republic Day, a monument to the founders of the Kapshagai hydroelectric power station was unveiled
The memorial was erected in honor of the 110th anniversary of Dinmukhamed Kunaev, the 100th anniversary of Asanbay Askarov, and the 110th anniversary of Shapyk Shokin.
A memorial monument to outstanding personalities of Kazakhstan, who stood at the origins of the construction of the Kapshagai hydroelectric power station and the founding of the city, was opened in Konaev. A memorial was erected on the territory of the Kapshagai hydroelectric power station named after. Sh. Chokin in honor of the 110th anniversary of Dinmukhamed Kunaev, the 100th anniversary of Asanbay Askarov, the 110th anniversary of Shapyk Shokin.
The Kapshagai hydroelectric power station is an important electric power facility in the southern region of the country. Plans for the construction of a power plant appeared in the thirties of the 20th century. For the first time, the need to build a station was substantiated by the famous Kazakh energy scientist, president of the Academy of Sciences of the republic, academician Shapyk Shokin in the book “Technical and economic indicators of the Kapshagai hydroelectric station on Ili” in 1942.
On June 20, 1969, a memorial plate was lowered to the bottom of the reinforced frame of the hydroelectric power station building, on which this date and the words are engraved: “The first cube of concrete was laid at the Kapshagai hydroelectric power station.” The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Kazakh SSR, Dinmukhamed Kunaev, was present at the laying, and the direct supervision of the construction of the station was carried out by the first secretary of the Almaty regional party committee, Asanbay Askarov. In December 1970, when the first two hydroelectric units were launched, the Kapshagai hydroelectric power station began generating electricity.
Today, the Kapshagai hydroelectric power station is a city-forming enterprise, the decoration and pride of the new administrative center of the Almaty region.
The head of Samruk-Energy JSC, Serik Tyutebaev, noted that by opening the memorial on the eve of Republic Day, the station workers and city residents pay tribute to their truly great compatriots.
“More than one generation of power engineers received professional training at the Kapshagai HPP. Today, the station employs highly qualified specialists who are dedicated to their work,” said the chairman of the company’s board.
Serik Tyutebaev also mentioned important energy projects in the Almaty region and Almaty.
“In today’s realities, especially during low-water periods, in order to increase the efficiency of the Kapshagai hydroelectric power station, the Samruk-Kazyna fund and the Samruk-Energy company are actively working on the implementation of a project related to the construction of the counter-regulatory Kerbulak hydroelectric power station on the Ili River. With its construction, modernization of the cascade of hydroelectric power stations and the transfer of Almaty thermal power plants to gas, the recent commissioning of the Shelek wind power plant and its expansion to 300 MW, taking into account the existing Kapshagai and Moinak hydroelectric power stations, the region is becoming a leader in “green energy,” noted the head of Samruk JSC -Energy.”
At the event, state awards were given to the merits of energy workers. By decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev, the Order of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Enbek Danky” was awarded to Alexey Andreevich Kim, chief engineer of B. Orazbayev CHPP-1. The medal of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Eren enbegi ushin” was awarded to Syrgabaev Isakhan Aktanovich, director of the Western Thermal Complex.
According to Alexey Kim, he is especially proud that he received a high award on the eve of the Republic Day holiday. This year, Alexey Kim has already participated in the 41st start-up of CHPP-1 after a shutdown.
Certificates of honor and gratitude from the Akimat of the Almaty region were received by Erlan Kirkinbaev, Chairman of the Board of AlES JSC, Murat Karimov, Director of the Kapshagai HPP named after Sh. Chokin and Marat Karashashev, an electrician for the repair of relay protection equipment and automation of the electrical machine shop of the station.
