The project is of strategic importance and affects the energy security and sustainable development of the metropolis.

During the working trip, construction sites were inspected and issues related to the implementation of the project were discussed.

The modernisation of Almaty CHPP-2 involves converting the plant to natural gas, which will significantly improve the environmental situation in the city.

After completion of the work in 2026, emissions will be reduced by almost 14 times – from 37.3 thousand tonnes to 2.7 thousand tonnes per year. There will also be an increase in installed electrical capacity from 510 to 557 MW.
