Jsc ales management acquainted the head of samruk-kazyna fund with the progress of works on modernisation of chpp-2

Today the Chairman of the Management Board of “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC Nurlan Zhakupov arrived on a working visit to CHPP-2 named after A.Zhakutov of JSC AlES. During the visit to the station, the head of the Fund was accompanied by the Chairman of the Board of “Samruk-Energy” JSC Kairat Maksutov. Yerik Mashirov, Head of JSC AlES, told the Head of the Fund about the passing of the winter period, as well as presented a report on the company’s activities for 2023 and plans for the current year.

During the visit, Yerik Mashirov briefed the Head of the Fund on the progress of the project to modernize Almaty CHPP-2, which will reduce emissions of harmful substances, while ensuring the reliability and efficiency of energy supply. Emissions reduction is achieved by transferring CHPP-2 to natural gas combustion.

The project is currently undergoing preparatory works, including geological surveys and well drilling. Completion of construction is scheduled for December 2026.

As a reminder, on 31 May 2023, an EPC-contract for the CHPP-2 project was signed between JSC AlES and a consortium comprising Dongfang Electric International Corporation, PowerChina Sepcol Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd and PowerChina Hebei Electric Power Engineering Co. The consortium is an alliance of companies where the first is a major industrial equipment manufacturer, the second has experience in EPC projects, and the third specializes in engineering.
