Important experience for AlES

Campaign workers visited JSC Tatenergo

At the end of February 2023, representatives of AlPP got acquainted with the operating conditions of gas turbine units (GTU) at CHPP-1 and CHPP-3 in Kazan, operating on natural gas.

“During the visit to the stations, we were able to discuss detailed issues and technical solutions that arose during the construction, installation and commissioning works,” said Gaziy Ismukhambetov, Managing Director for Production – Chief Engineer.

The commissioning of new power units reduced the shortage of electrical power in the Kazan energy region. The advantage of the GTU is its flexibility. Fast start-up, fast load ramping, high reliability and high efficiency.

– At CHPP-3 we saw a unique turbine with our own eyes. It is interfaced with the steam turbine equipment already existing at the power plant,” continued Mikhail Reshetnikov, Head of the Operations Service. – Thanks to this, as a result of commissioning a gas turbine unit, the CHP plant generates electricity and heat based on the steam-gas cycle.

Among the advantages of the gas turbine unit, AlPP representatives noted greater operational maneuverability, which is achieved through the use of an innovative unit control system. This allows you to quickly start up the installation, switch to partial load while maintaining high efficiency indicators.

– When familiarizing ourselves with the equipment and negotiating with the operating personnel of the Kazan CHPP-1, we received information about a flexible range of power control with the possibility of stable operation of the gas turbine unit in the field of specified electrical load schedules. We were able to look at the speed of loading and unloading of the unit,” added Abzal Zhakypbaev, deputy chief engineer of CHPP-2 named after. A. Zhakutova.

Yuri Shashkin, head of the labor and wages department of the Human Resources Management, studied the approaches, procedures, grounds and features of calculating the standard number and forming the staffing schedule of the Kazan CHPP-1 personnel during periods of its reconstruction.

Representatives of AlPP noted that the new units introduced on the basis of gas turbine units using modern automated control systems are reliable equipment. They have clear regulation within a given range, facilitate startup operations and operation, have sufficient redundancy, have great functionality and archive data, and have positive reviews from the station’s operating and maintenance personnel.

The experience gained will be used when converting Almaty stations to gas.
