First-hand knowledge: educational excursion for schoolchildren to the Kapshagai hydroelectric power station named after. Sh. Chokina
November 21, 2023 became a day full of discoveries and impressions for 34 students of the 10th grade of the Kazakh school “Zaman School” when they began an exciting journey through the Kapshagai hydroelectric power station named after. Sh. Chokina. The purpose of this trip was not only to maintain students’ interest in various fields, but also to help in self-determination within the framework of career guidance work.
For many children, visiting the energy facility was a real discovery of new knowledge. They saw with their own eyes how a hydroelectric power station works, what technologies are used to generate electricity, and learned what role a hydroelectric power station plays in providing electricity.
Shakey Ayim, a 10th grade student, said that she was impressed by the visit to the hydroelectric power station: “It was not only exciting, but also exciting. I learned a lot of new things about hydroelectric power stations. It was interesting to see all the equipment in action. I also learned about how hydroelectric power plants affect the environment and how they monitor their contribution to protecting nature. It was a great experience for me.”
For student Serik Batyr, the visit to the hydroelectric power station was very educational. He learned not only about where the electricity in houses comes from, but also about how the station works. Serik was very surprised to learn how much had been done to build the dam and arrange everything around for the operation of the hydroelectric power station.
Samat Khamit, a school teacher and career guidance counselor, expressed his gratitude to the HPP staff for their hospitality and the informative excursion, which was inspiring for all students.
The opportunity to see the actual working process of hydropower proved to be a valuable experience for the teenagers, helping them better understand their interests and inspire them to further study this science.
