Environmental protection requirements of the company

AlES JSC considers environmental safety, environmental protection, accessibility of environmental information, transparency of production activities in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, norms and rules, international agreements and standards in the field of environmental protection, an integral element of its activities and one of its strategic priorities.
The main strategic goal of JSC AlES in the field of environmental safety is to minimize factors that can cause damage to the environment.
To manage aspects that have a significant impact on the environment, the Company has developed an Environmental Policy, a Register of Important Environmental Aspects and a Register of Significant Risks. Based on a system of priorities, Environmental Policies and Registries reflect the severity of problems, the importance and priority of their solutions.
These requirements establish the procedure for compliance with environmental safety and legislation in the field of environmental protection, administrative and production personnel of the Company, as well as performers who supply goods, perform work and provide services on the territory of the Company under contracts.
1.) Responsibilities of the Company’s administrative and production staff:
The administrative staff of the Company is obliged to:
– familiarize yourself with and comply with the requirements of the Company’s Environmental Policy;
– to exercise control:
1) for the management of environmental aspects and risks arising in the course of the activities of production personnel;
2) for compliance with the requirements for the management of production and consumption waste by production personnel and performers who supply goods, perform work and provide services on the territory of the Company;
3) monitoring the condition of workplaces and territories assigned to staff;
4) monitoring the implementation of measures to prevent emergencies that may lead to environmental pollution, environmental damage and negative impact on the Company’s personnel;
– promptly respond to complaints, complaints from the local population, the media, NGOs and other interested persons, or if violations of the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan are detected by the Department’s staff, immediately report the fact of such appeals to the Company’s top management, develop and implement measures to eliminate such violations.
The Company’s production staff is obliged to:
– familiarize yourself with and comply with the requirements of the Company’s Environmental Policy;
– to manage the environmental aspects and risks arising in the course of their activities;
– to comply with the requirements for the management of production and consumption waste, namely: to carry out separate waste collection, in strictly defined places, in containers with special markings;
– to prevent cluttering of workplaces and territories assigned to staff;
– to prevent emergency situations that may lead to environmental pollution, environmental damage and negative impact on the Company’s personnel;
– promptly respond to complaints from the local population, the media, NGOs and other interested persons, or if violations of the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan are independently detected, immediately report the fact of such appeals/discoveries to the first head of the Company’s department.
2.) Obligations of the executors who supply goods, perform works and provide services on the territory of the Company (hereinafter referred to as the Executor):
The Contractor fulfills its obligations in compliance with the requirements of the norms and rules of the legislation in force on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of environmental protection and Environmental Policy of the Company.
The Contractor is obliged to prevent any negative impact on the Company’s environment during the production of works, provision of services at the Company’s facilities, and delivery of goods. At the request of the Company, the Contractor is obliged to:
– to confirm the compliance of the condition of its equipment and the equipment involved in fulfilling obligations with the standards and requirements imposed on it (passports, certificates of conformity;
– to fulfill the following obligations in accordance with the requirements of legislation and documented procedures in the field of environmental protection:
1) before starting work, by order to appoint a person responsible for environmental protection, to transfer a copy of the order to the Company;
2) to bring to the attention of its personnel and the personnel of the Subcontractor involved in fulfilling obligations at the Company’s facilities, the requirements of the norms and rules of legislation in force on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of environmental protection and Environmental Policy of the Company;
3) obtain all permits provided for by the environmental and sanitary-epidemiological legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan (permits for emissions, for special water use, licenses, certificates, etc.);
4) to prevent emergencies that may lead to environmental pollution, environmental damage and negative impact on the Company’s personnel, and when registering emergencies, to provide the Company with comprehensive assistance in investigating situations and participate in the work of commissions to investigate them if this incident occurred at the Company’s facility through the fault of the Contractor, as well as, promptly provide the Company with reports on the measures taken to eliminate and prevent them in the future;
5) comply with the requirements for the management of waste from work at the Company’s facilities;
6) at its own expense, ensure the collection, safe temporary storage, transfer to a specialized enterprise for disposal, in accordance with the established procedure, of production and consumption waste, unused chemicals formed as a result of fulfilling obligations;
7) provide the Company with documents confirming the disposal of production and consumption waste;
8) provide the Company with information on the results of inspections conducted by state inspection bodies in order to comply with the requirements of legislation in the field of environmental protection, inform the Company about violations committed and detected by inspection bodies, presentation of penalties, cases of withdrawal or suspension of licenses. The Contractor provides similar information to the Company on the activities of the Subcontractor.
9) to carry out production control and payment for emissions into the environment;
10) after fulfilling obligations, clean the construction site of materials, production and consumption waste, fuel spills, etc.
3.) Responsibility for violation of legislative and regulatory documents on environmental protection:
The administrative and production staff of the Company, performers engaged in the supply of goods, performance of works and provision of services on the territory of the Company bear administrative, disciplinary, criminal and material responsibility in accordance with the procedure established by the current Legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan for violations of the requirements of legislative and other regulatory acts on environmental protection, for failure to comply with legitimate requirements of state supervision and control bodies.
