ENERGY SOURCES REQUIRE UPDATING
Reconstruction and modernization of equipment are in full swing at the enterprises of Almaty Electric Power Stations JSC
This was confirmed by journalists who visited CHPP-2, where the ash dump is being reconstructed, which is necessary for the stable operation of the enterprise. Prior to that, the plant had already repaired the fan cooling towers, which allowed to increase the volume of electricity production, and built a boiler room, thanks to which the heat output increased to 1 million tons. Gcal per year, reconstructed ash collection facilities and much more.
In general, according to Galym Zhanbyrshi, Deputy Chairman of the Board for Development of AlES JSC, all these works are carried out within the framework of fulfilling investment obligations, which in 2009-2013 amounted to 59.4 billion tenge.
“These funds were used to increase production volumes and reduce production costs,” Galym Zhanbyrshi said. – As well as to maintain the current level of production, construction of ash dumps and environmental protection measures. Reconstruction of fan cooling towers at CHPP-2 and CHPP-3 allowed to increase the volume of electricity production by 549.7 million kW per year. The construction of ash dumps at all three CHPPs is part of the continuous technological cycle of coal-fired power plants and is necessary for the uninterrupted supply of electric and thermal energy to consumers in Almaty and the Almaty region. Environmental protection measures, such as the reconstruction of ash collection plants and modernization of burner devices, have reduced inorganic dust emissions by more than 10 thousand tons per year.
In addition, according to the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for Development, measures to reconstruct and replace equipment to maintain the current level of production have reduced the number of emergency shutdowns from 153 in 2009 to 100 in 2013.
