CHPP-1 named after B. Orazbayev
The design and construction of the Alma-Ata TPP (now AlPP CHP-1 named after B.Orazbayev) began in 1931. And on October 25, 1935, the first unit was put under industrial load.
In 1935, 1.8 million kWh of electricity was generated. For today, this is the generation of electricity per day of operation of the station, but for Alma-Ata in the mid-forties, the start of the turbine became a great holiday.
By 1940, three boilers and three turbines had been installed. The total capacity is 10.5 MW. Two more turbines and one boiler were put into operation before 1946. This was the end of the first stage of the construction of the power plant.
In the second stage, in 1953-54, two boilers and a 6.3 MW turbine No. 6 were installed and put into operation.
The third and fourth stages of expansion solve the issue of generating electricity from thermal consumption. In 1957, a medium-pressure boiler and an AT-12 heating turbine with a capacity of 12 MW were installed. In 1960-61, two high-pressure boilers BKZ-160-100 and a turbine with steam supply to industrial consumers and for water heaters turbines R-25-90/18 were installed and put into operation. In 1960, the Alma-Ata TPP was renamed the Alma-Ata CHP. For the first time, heat from the Alma-Ata thermal power plant was released in the 4th quarter of 1961. Installation in 1966-67. two hot-water boilers completed the fourth stage of the expansion of the Alma-Ata CHP.
The fifth stage of the expansion of the station was designed taking into account the general development plan of Alma-Ata.
At the CHP from 1969 to 1972. two turbines with steam extraction have been installed to heat water and release it to industrial consumers. Four boilers BKZ-160-100 and two PTVM-100 hot water boilers of 100 Gcal/hour were installed. In 1976-79, three more hot water boilers were put into operation.
At the end of 2000, outdated inefficient equipment was taken out of operation and dismantled. There are three steam turbines – one R-25-90/18 and two PT-60-90/13 with a total capacity of 145 MW, six high-pressure steam boilers BKZ-160-100 and seven PTVM-100 hot water boilers of 100 Gcal/hour.
After the reform of JSC APK CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev, it began functioning on February 15, 2007. as part of the Almaty Electric Power Plants JSC.
