Blood for the sake of life: the story of solidarity of AlES employees
The team of AlES JSC has showed the meaning of a true corporate family on 16 and 17 of April. These days dozens of employees responded to the kind request of a former colleague – Bauyrkhan Bayasilov, who has worked for 12 years as a telecommunicator at CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev. Today, his five-year-old son Batyrkhan is struggling with a severe diagnosis – acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
The treatment is to be long lasting and complicated, and the boy constantly needs donor blood. As soon as the message of help appeared in work chats, more than 100 employees from different production departments ranging from rank-and-file specialists to managers – have instantly responded. ‘If not us, then who?’ – said the company’s spirit of mutual support.
Ramazan Moldakadyr, an engineer in the Repair Preparation Group of ZTС, has become a donor for more than the one time: “Becoming a donor is a conscious, soulful choice for me. Today I donated blood because my colleague’s sick child needs help. In times like these, giving someone hope is a great happiness. I donate blood regularly, and every time I feel inner joy: my blood can save someone’s life. This is priceless”.
Ramazan noted that the Republican Blood Centre has created all conditions for donors: it is clean and comfortable, and the specialists work professionally and cordially.
– We work as a team, and we will help, said Shalkar Altybayev, chief specialist in capital construction at the B.Orazbayev CHPP-1. – Just three months ago, I went to donate blood for a worker at CHPP-2. And now, having learnt about the misfortune of a former colleague, we have gathered again. Almost 100 people showed up! Some of them were not medically suitable, but the very fact that people responded is a great reward. We are a team of people who help each other more than just by talking about it. I have experienced the kindness of my colleagues more than once, so I always try to help. I am proud to work among such people. Alisher Teltai, foreman of the boiler shop of CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev, donated blood for the first time: “When a request for help appeared in the work chat, I didn’t even hesitate. I was pleasantly surprised that people responded –coming from different production departments and the head office. This proves that we have not just a job, but a true family”.
Zhomart Dauletbayev, general manager of the Methodology Department, once worked with Bauyrzhan and could not remain unconcerned:
– I came in the morning on a fasted stomach to give blood, it’s not the first time I’ve given blood. We worked together with Bauyrzhan. I believe that his son Batyrkhan will recover!
Kanstantsiya Kaderbaeva, an engineer of the Technical and Technical Department of the A.Zhakutov CHPP-2 has already given blood for the third time, but giving blood to the child of a colleague is a great responsibility for her.
Each AlES employee donated 450 gramms of blood. First it will be tested for hepatitis B, C and syphilis, and then it will be divided into red blood cells and plasma.
– Erythrocytes will be given to Batyrkhan at once, if they match his blood type and rhesus. And plasma will be stored in the centre. And if in 4 months donors retake the tests and they appear to be normal, it will also be sent to the children at the Paediatrics Centre. Men can donate blood once every 2 months, women – once every 3 months, – said the Republican Blood Centre.
Batyrkhan’s story is not just a story of illness. It is a story of hope, which became possible due to responsiveness, kindness and unity of people.
AlEC employees proved: when the heart beats in unison, and the impossible becomes possible.
