Almaty CHPP-2 is named after Aitkali Zhakutov

During his 42 years of work, Aitkali Zhakutovich contributed to the formation of the energy system not only of Almaty and Kazakhstan as a whole

To perpetuate the memory of the Honorary Power Engineer of the USSR, Honored Worker of Industry of the Kazakh USSR Aitkali Zhakutov, AlES JSC took the initiative to name Almaty CHPP-2 after him. The management of Samruk-Energy JSC supported and approved the initiative.
The new legal name of the station is CHPP-2 named after A. Zhakutov.

Aitkali Zhakutov was born on November 15, 1931 on the collective farm named after Kalinin, Chapaevsky district, West Kazakhstan region, into a peasant family. He was the youngest in the family. In 1933, when he was two years old, his father died. Mother Asiya, left with five children in difficult conditions, managed to instill in her children honesty, hard work, and a respectful attitude towards people. Thanks to maternal care, all children received an education.
Fate did not spoil Aitkali Zhakutovich: at the age of less than 13, he was left an orphan – his mother died. Despite all the difficulties of life, in 1945 Aitkali Zhakutovich graduated with honors from the Kalinin seven-year school. Then he worked on a collective farm. As a result, he graduated from school at the age of 19 with a gold medal. In 1950, for excellent studies and active participation in the public life of the school, he was awarded a diploma of the Komsomol Central Committee.

After graduating from school, Aitkali Zhakutovich entered the heat and power engineering department of the Moscow Energy Institute, specializing in “Thermal Power Installations”. While studying at the institute, I learned to live on one scholarship. In winter, when everyone was leaving for vacation and there were few students left in the dormitory, Aitkali Zhakutovich managed to go to the opera house with the money he saved.

Aitkali Zhakutovich began his career at Almaty CHPP-1. In five years from 1956 to 1961, he worked his way up from an engineer, a foreman of a centralized turbine repair shop, to a station duty engineer. Then, from 1962 to 1966, he served in the Soviet army, where he worked as a chief mechanic.

Since 1966, Aitkali Zhakutovich worked as the head of the production technical department of the Heating Networks Enterprise in Almaty, and in 1967 he became the director of this enterprise. Under his leadership, in 1970, the connection of industrial enterprises and household consumers in Almaty to a centralized source of heat supply was largely completed.

 

 

In 1973, Aitkali Zhakutovich was appointed manager of the Alma-Ataenergo District Energy Administration. In 1974, by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR, Aitkali Zhakutovich was approved as a member of the board of the Ministry of Energy and Electrification of the Kazakh SSR.

7        In 1982, Aitkali Zhakutovich was appointed head of the Zonal body of Kazakhstan of the State Inspectorate for the Operation of Power Plants and Networks of the USSR Ministry of Energy.
Aitkali Zhakutovich paid a lot of attention to social work. From 1967 to 1985, he was elected as a deputy of the Alma-Ata City Regional Council of People’s Deputies, a member of the Alma-Ata Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Alma-Ata Regional Board of the Scientific and Technical Society of Energy of the Electrical Industry, a member of the Kazakh Republican Board of this society, a member of the Republican and the regional committees of the trade union of power plant and electrical industry workers.

In 1990, by decree of the President of the Kazakh SSR, he was awarded the honorary title “Honored Worker of Industry of the Kazakh SSR.”

45645     — Taking into account the special merits, fruitful work and personal contribution of Aitkali Zhakutov to the development of energy in the Almaty region, a memorial plaque was installed at CHPP-2 of Almaty Electric Stations JSC in a solemn ceremony in August 2013. We are proud that CHPP-2 was named after Atkali Zhakutov. After all, with his direct participation, the construction and commissioning of the first stage of Almaty CHPP-2 was carried out,” said Nurlan Mukhamed-Rakhimov, Chairman of the Board of AlPP JSC.
In 2020, Almaty CHPP-2 named after A. Zhakutov turned 40 years old. This important energy facility plays a decisive role in the reliable and uninterrupted energy and heat supply of Almaty and the Almaty region.
