AlES: results of the contest “Best Environmentally Responsible Enterprise”
In early June 2020, Almaty Electric Power Stations JSC summed up the results of the contest “Best Environmentally Responsible Enterprise”.
The contest allowed identifying projects aimed at creating an ecological culture for the company’s employees, collecting proposals for organizing separate waste collection, and raising the issue of methods for controlling atmospheric pollution.
Each department, in the form of a presentation, outlined the history of the emergence of its department and its activities, the implementation of the environmental management system and the environmental protection system, the principles of environmental information for employees of AlES JSC and contractors operating on the territory of production departments.
In the conditions of quarantine, presentation materials were accepted electronically and reviewed by a specially created commission in remote mode. When making the decision, the commission took into account the work of departments that make every effort to ensure a favorable environmental situation and take all necessary actions to ensure environmental protection and preserve natural resources.
Special attention in production departments is paid to monitoring violations in the field of environmental protection. Works have been carried out to modernize and improve the efficiency of wastewater treatment plants, separate collection of paper, glass and plastic has been established, waste paper collection days are held on a regular basis, and environmental actions have been carried out both in the departments themselves and in the adjacent territory.
According to the commission’s decision, the work of departments is recognized as meeting the requirements of regulatory authorities in the field of environmental protection. For its part, each department is ready to improve the environmental protection system. At the end of the quarantine, all department ecologists who participated in this environmental competition will receive Certificates of Honor.
