AlES: participatory learning

16 AUES students completed an internship at CHPP-1 named after. B. Orazbaeva

The fifth year of JSC “AlES” and NJSC “AUES named after. G. Daukeeva” conducts practice with elements of dual training. During the first summer month, students were trained on the basis of CHPP-1 named after B. Orazbayev and the personnel training department of AlPP in two working specialties: boiler equipment operator (8 students), turbine equipment operator (8 students).

– The introduction of new teaching methods at production sites takes student training to a new level. During the practice period, students became acquainted with the work of CHPP-1 named after. B. Orazbayev, technical and economic indicators, analysis of the operation of enterprise systems (boiler shop, turbine shop, electrical shop, chemical shop, TAI shop, commissioning and environmental activities shop), operating mode of the main and auxiliary equipment of the boiler and turbine shops, – said the head personnel training department Arailym Aidabolov.

The head of the practice, Galina Suminova, who worked at CHPP-1 for forty-two years, spoke about how the students were trained:

– We are working today with future energy workers. The guys this year are smart, they ask a lot of questions and are interested. Our program is intense, every day is scheduled. Today we are following the same pattern, analyzing everything in detail. In each workshop we are assigned a responsible foreman who shows and tells us everything. Classes that demonstrate the equipment the student will use in the future are invaluable. As they say, theory without practice is nothing! After lunch, we consolidate what we saw at the lecture,” noted Galina Sergeevna.

As the head of the group, Almaz Yessimkhanov, said, before visiting the station, production activities seemed completely different to him: “I was struck by the scale of the equipment – the number and size, as well as the working conditions. It is also surprising that they preserved equipment that is decades old. I really liked all this, it was interesting, because I always wanted to see “live” the equipment that is studied at the university. As they say: it is better to see once than to hear a hundred times. These classes help us solve a lot of questions.”

3rd year student Erzomarta Nokerbana was very impressed by the station staff:

– Very friendly employees work at CHPP-1. They all want us to learn something new, to learn visually. Communication with professionals who have extensive experience in the energy sector is great. This dialogue is very important! The student receives real information about his future profession “from the horse’s mouth.” Separately, I would like to say words of gratitude to Galina Sergeevna Suminova and Alexander Mikhailovich Orlov, teachers of the personnel training department of AlES,” shared Erzhomart.

Student Anastasia Yurgel’s brother works at CHPP-2 named after. A. Zhakutova. She chose her specialty wisely.

– I like this profession. The practice was very interesting. We learned a lot. I found out that many women work at the station, for example in the chemical workshop. I especially remember and am grateful to the shift manager of the chemical workshop, Larisa Yusupovna Shegabudinova,” continued Anastasia.

At the end of the practice, an exam was held with the participation of representatives of AUPET and production departments of CHPP-2 named after. A. Zhakutov and ZTK. Familiarity with the specifics of the operation of an energy enterprise during the period of study at AUPET will reduce the adaptation time for young specialists in the workplace after graduation.
