AlES: our goal is “vision zero”

The main indicator of a company’s safety culture is the priority of labor protection in the company and the involvement of all personnel in labor safety issues

As part of the declared Year of Occupational Safety and Health in the group of companies of the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund, training has become a significant element for the formation of a safety culture in AlES JSC. In 2022, it was held in several stages and in various formats.

– In the first half of the year, the Chairman of the Board of AlES JSC, Erlan Kirkinbaev, completed certified training on safety culture. This is an indicator of the leadership of the company’s management in safety management. Through his personal example, the Chairman of the Board demonstrated the importance of compliance with labor safety requirements,” noted Galymbek Autalipov, Managing Director for Labor Safety and Environmental Protection. I would also like to point out the support in the development of safety culture from the Labor Safety Department of Samruk-Energy JSC, which during 2022 trained 165 internal trainers of production departments of AlES JSC on safe work culture.

A major role in ensuring a safety culture means active work with staff to change their attitude towards safety issues, awareness of personal responsibility for compliance with labor safety standards and employees’ commitment to safe behavior in the workplace. To this end, since March 2022, internal trainers of AlES JSC have been regularly training employees of all production departments to improve safety culture according to approved schedules.

As part of the declared Year of Occupational Safety and Health, from August to September, a training seminar “Formation of a safety culture” was held for 22 occupational health and safety inspectors of AlES JSC.

– In November-December, a seminar “Improving the culture of occupational safety” was organized for heads of production departments. We were taught by a certified trainer. It was interesting to learn new things that can be applied at work. – said Tulegen Kochkinbaev, deputy chief engineer of CHPP-1 named after B. Orazbayev. Based on the results of the seminar, 60 managers were given certificates of successful completion of training.

Forming a safety culture in a company is a long and continuous process and requires the efforts of the entire team, but its implementation will save the lives and health of workers, increase production efficiency by reducing costs, and improve the company’s image. This is especially important in 2023, in which AlES JSC set the “Vision Zero” goal (zero injuries).
