AlES marathon runners: the important thing is participation. Preferably a victorious one

A large group of marathon runners from JSC “AlES” traditionally took part in Almaty Marathon and traditionally showed high sports class, equaling the unconditional sports leader of the team of Almaty power engineers – Gaziy Ismukhambetov. Gaziy Zhumabayevich, Advisor to the Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “AlES”, has a new medal in his collection of sports achievements – gold of marathon distance of 42.2 kilometers in the age category 60+.

Aidar Ryskulov, Managing Director for Economics and Finance of JSC NWF Samruk- Kazyna, successfully overcame the same distance. By the way, Aidar Kairatovich was also an official representative of the company, which acted as one of the sponsors of the Almaty Marathon.

– For me, Almaty Marathon 2024 has already become the fifth this year! – Zhanerke Panarkhankyzy, an engineer for the preparation of production of the Energy Repair plant, shares his emotions. – It was a truly large-scale and unforgettable event! So much emotion, so much drive! Despite feeling unwell, I am proud of myself for reaching the finish line. I want to congratulate all the marathon runners on their personal victories — this is really a big step forward for each of us!

I would especially like to note that this year the honorary partner of the marathon was the Samruk-Kazyna company. And we, the power engineers, are very pleased with this. It’s nice to see how our company supports not only its employees, but also running enthusiasts. I am sure that next time there will be even more runners at the start, including my colleagues!”

According to Zhanerke, 15 people from AlES JSC took part in the marathon. Aidos Nazaraliyev had a good result, who ran 10 km in 45 minutes in the age category among men 35-39. And, although he took only 31st place, it became a personal official achievement for him.

– This is my second marathon this year, and in the first one I ran a distance of 21.1 km. I have been preparing for the September marathon for more than two months. I started training by running 11.5 km to work almost every morning, says Aidos Missaralyiev, an engineer at the Central Thermal Control Panel of the B.Orazbayev CHPP-1 Steam turbines. – At first, I ran to the station in 1 hour, and then slowly began to shorten the time. My last result was 37 minutes. More than 20 people from Samruk Kazyna and 15 people from AlES fled with me. In general, I am happy with the result at the Almaty Marathon, because there was a nuance here: at the 8th km I grabbed my side, because of this I could not meet the right time. But everything is still ahead!”

– Bekzat Kalelov, an electrician of RZA of CHPP-1, set his personal record at the Almaty Marathon, finishing the 10 km distance in 39 minutes and taking 39th place. He participated, perhaps, in the strongest male age category 18-34 years old.

– The atmosphere was great! – This is how he describes the city’s main sports festival. – 16,000 participants running at the same time made a special impression. And for me, as a sports fan, the support of sports by the Samruk Kazyna Foundation was very important.

– Aizada Tleukhan, the chief specialist of the Personnel Training Department, who is taking part in it for the third time, also perceives the marathon as a holiday.

– I am incredibly glad that I was able to take part in such a large-scale event. Runners from 57 countries participated in the race, which created a special atmosphere of sporting unity and inspiration, says Aizada. – I got great pleasure from participating, watching how kilometers are overcome with incredible determination. For me, a marathon is not just a competition, but an opportunity to test my strength, improve my results and become a part of a big and significant event. It is especially pleasant that they make new acquaintances with like-minded people who share a passion for running. Participation in the marathon is always an unforgettable emotion that remains in the memory for a long time”.

Indeed, the Almaty Marathon has become the largest running event in Central Asia in a short time. It is included in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), and its tracks are certified in accordance with World Athletics standards. This September, the marathon was “run” for the thirteenth time.

– As part of Almaty Marathon, the Kazakhstan 10 km Championship among participants over 35 years old was also held. In addition, there were competitions at distances of 42.2 km, 21.1 km, 10 km, 10 km – Nordic walking, Ekiden relay race (Japanese origin 駅伝競走 – sports competition in running on the highway, which is a relay race on the marathon distance).

Asset Amirbekov, head of repair service of B.Orazbayev CHPP-1 named after B.Orazbayev, took part in the ten-kilometer race. Adhering to the well-known wisdom that the path of a thousand years begins with the first step, he by his own admission, small steps improve his result.

– This is the second marathon for me, and running has become another sport I’ve become interested in, Asset said. – This time I improved my result by 4 minutes, covering the 10 km distance in 57 minutes. The track was new and unfamiliar to me. And the best part was the finish, as it was uphill. And, to be honest, the last 1.2 km were given to me purely on character. And here the choice is yours: either to give up and not get your result, or to show the strength of your character, squeezing all 100 percent out of yourself! I am glad that I was able to assess my capabilities, overcame myself. I will continue to improve my result, prepare even better. I am very motivated by runners and I take an example from them.

Bikensulu Mamrayeva, Chief Specialist of the Works and Services Division of the Logistics, Works and Services Department, who believes that the marathon is a struggle and a dialog with oneself, agrees with Asset. And also – relentless work!

“It was my third race in 2024 at a distance of 10 km, but it was the first, for which I was preparing thoroughly – 4 months with a coach at the stadium “Dinamo”. Training took place 3 times a week. At this race I improved my personal result by 10 minutes.

Marathon is fear and joy of victory, dopamine rush and meditation, and most importantly – it is a celebration of sports for the whole city! Excitement at the start, adrenaline – at the distance, and incredible joy at the finish – so many emotions in one day! When else can we run on the streets of a beautiful city, where we usually drive? This feeling of victory over myself cannot be described in words. And this finish line is a new starting point for all the next victories.

Running is what now gives me great energy, strength, inspiration, mood. I am glad that I have found my favorite hobby”.

Dina Abdimazhit, a process engineer at the adjustment and environmental protection shop of B.Orazbayev CHPP-1, experienced incredible emotions after running her first 10 km at the Almaty Marathon.

“It was not just a physical challenge, but a moment of strength and joy that I shared with my colleagues. Together we were able to walk this path, energizing each other,” Dina concludes. – It was not just a race, but a real journey, full of energy and inspiration. Taking part in such a big event gave me joy and confidence in my abilities. It was a day that will long remain in my memory as a symbol of unity, strength of spirit and common goal. I am happy to be a part of this great event.
