At the beginning of May 2023, representatives of AlES JSC visited the production enterprises of Mosenergo PJSC

Projects for the construction of gas turbine units at CHPP-2 and CHPP-3 pose new challenges for the company’s personnel. Their practical implementation will begin in the second half of this year. To study the successful experience, the AlES delegation visited two stations of Mosenergo PJSC.

CHPP-27 is a new power plant in the system of PJSC Mosenergo. It is the same age as the Almaty CHPP-2, but more powerful. Its installed electrical capacity is 1,060 MW, and its installed thermal capacity is 1,876 Gcal/h. In 2005, a decision was made to further develop CHPP-27 based on the latest steam-gas cycle technology. In three years, two combined cycle power units with a capacity of 450 MW were built. Monitoring and control of technological processes of the third and fourth power units is carried out from a single central control panel.

CHPP-23 is the largest power plant of Mosenergo PJSC; it provides electricity and heat to more than 2 million people in the capital. The installed electrical capacity of the station is 1,420 MW, and the installed thermal capacity is 4,530 Gcal/h. The principle of its operation is similar to our CHPP-1, when it burned coal with the difference of a dust preparation system, instead of roller mills, ball drum mills were installed as at our CHPP-3.

“The station staff willingly shared questions about the operation and repair of CCGT units,” said Gaziy Ismukhambetov, “Managing Director for Production – Chief Engineer of AlES JSC.” – It turned out to be new for us that special attention needs to be paid to the quality of filters for air cleaning installations of gas turbines. For this purpose, a special incoming control was organized by the laboratory according to a methodology developed by order of Mosenergo PJSC. Siemens gas turbines have operated for more than 200 thousand hours; no defects or defects have been identified during this time.

Sergei Barmin, deputy chief engineer of CHPP-3, noted the high level of qualifications of the personnel, which ensures trouble-free operation.

– The process of putting the CCGT into operation for personnel took place in stages, starting with preliminary theoretical training, internship during commissioning and supervised operation with the participation of representatives of the manufacturer. This approach is used today in our company. Today we have the first stage – theoretical training,” continued Sergei Barmin.

The head of the Operations Department, Alexey Skryabin, liked the presence of a system for centralized repair of power equipment by his own department.

– This enterprise is technically equipped and has all the capabilities for high-quality repairs and mechanical processing of technologically complex units of power equipment. Mosenergo PJSC plans to organize a production cycle for gas turbine elements, the supply of which is difficult today. It should be noted that this unit is similar to our Energoremont PRP,” Alexey Skryabin shared his opinion.

Vladimir Sosnitsky, head of the technical maintenance department of the Western Thermal Complex, was surprised by the fuel warehouse of CHPP-23, the operation of which is fully automated. It is controlled using the mouse from the operator’s PC monitor.

AlES employees believe that the trip was a success; many questions were answered, clarified and clarified.

For reference: The PJSC operates 15 power plants with an installed electrical capacity of 12.6 thousand MW. Mosenergo also operates district and quarterly thermal stations and district heat and power supply stations. The installed thermal capacity of the company is 44.1 thousand Gcal/h. Power plants of Mosenergo PJSC supply over 50% of the electrical energy consumed in the Moscow region and provide about 90% of Moscow’s heat energy needs.
